Guys, (and girls,) this getting personal now, what do you carry in your toolbag? My bike didn't have a toolkit. I note there is a small position behind the left side cover. ( big enough for my nail clippers and nail file). I'm a great believer in tool kits, i figure if you carry one it's like a good luck charm you'll never need it, that's been my experience of 30 years riding anyhow., In 15 years of riding my guzzi 1000 I only used my toolkit once I think. I already have a spark plug spanner, made from a deep socket machined down to 24.5mm dia, and a 3/8" drive socket pressed into eh end. An 18mm spark plug spanner is a rare beast in Vietnam. I bought the sockets and had this one made for $10.

Yep Simmo that's where the standard tool kit goes, all wrapped up in a neat little bag that ya cant fit back in there once you've taken it out All that is in there is a couple of allen keys, 2 or is it 3 spanners some other thing I have no idea what it's for tis big tho and makes it hard to stuff it back in it's little hidey hole. A couple of screewdrivers that fit into one multi handle thingy ... wait I'll take a pic cause I'm useless with tools ..... Spanner sizes are 8, 10, 12, 14 and 17 I also carry a punture repair kit in my tool bag and a couple of those compressed air thingys. Oh and a pressure gauge thingy.

i put a leather tool roll on the back of my sissy bar. ;D it has a the production toolkit plus metric & imperial allen key sets, electrical tape, plastic rip ties, rags, small ratchet socket set, fuses. wire, sellotape and ???shoelaces. Also on rides always carry big first aid kit, frozen bottle of water, gloves, cap, sunscreen and nibbles, In case of an incident of some sort that takes us off our scheduled timeline.

that funny looking claw thing is for adjusting your suspension to tighten or soften depending if you're carrying a pillion.

Thanks everyone for your contributions, I can start buying odds and ends to make up the tool kit. The tool kit is pretty basic, you can't do much with those items. I adjust the suspension by grabbing the shock absorber and turning it by hand. I like then idea of a good sized tool bag, but there's nowhere to put it on the bike, might have to wait until i get my panniers. Having a nice tool bag hanging on your bike here is an invitation for someone to steal it unfortunately. I find it a bit strange such a large motorbike has no where accessible for a tool kit. There's a good spot under the seat, maybe I can put some stuff there, and keep the allen key and spanner to remove the seat under the side cover. cheers simmo
