Simon, I'm after some crashbars/engine bars or what ever to protec the bike if it drops, but no one will give me an answer on how to fit if you have 6" extension pegs. I'll be after one set for my shadow and one for Pams 400, could you supply or give me directions? Thanks mate Steve Unfortunately you won't be able to get any highway / crash /engine bars that will fit becase they mount at the foot peg mounting brackets. Your forward controls would then hit the bars. You basically have three major options: 1) Get rid of the forwards and go back to stock, fit the highway bars and put on highway pegs that attach to the bars. This would allow you stretch out but you would still have to use the normal controls shifting and braking. 2) Get some bars and modify them so they would clear the foot pegs. Depending upon the bars used will depend upon how much modification you would have to make. 3) Get someone to fabricate (or do yourself if you have the tools & knowledge) a set of bars that would clear the forwards. If your going to make your own crash bars, don't design them so you have to put for feet through them to get to your pegs. This is highly dangerous as you could get your feet caught in them when comming to a stop or if you have an off. Because of this possibility, you'd be defected and declared unroadworthy untill you got rid of them. Cheers Simon.

;D thank you.
I'll take that all on board, Ive some workshop equipment coming soon so i think I'll tackle it as a project. Now why didnt those other companies say that to me, probably hoping I'd buy and try to fit after they've bankedthe money.
Thanks again Simon, I owe you a beer.

Steve Unfortunately that's how a lot of places work. They are really only interested how much they can sell. I like people to make informed decisions before they lay down their hard earned coin on an item that may not work as desired or could have been done differently to save them time and/or money. Besides, a happy customer will tell two people. An unhappy customer will tell ten.

I thought i did a write up on the saga of the indicator mirrors. obviously not. Anyway the short version is that poor scrap spent 4 1/2 hours rewiring and fitting the mirrors. ( we had a lot of electrical challenges ) then when we got them on they were not tall enough to see anything but road. anyway Scrap got one positioned for me and off i went in the rain. from roleystone to quinns approx 100km i think. Up the freeway. After about 1km i realised they had ceased to function. Not wanting to be a pain i just came home wary of not having indicators at all. Anyway I just pulled the fusebox apart and guess what, not only did i not have indicators, i didnt have brake lights or horn either. Soo glad i didnt know about that. Anyway just changed the fuse twice and there is still a wiring issue, but I have found it, we pinched the wire while raising the right hand indicator and exposed the copper so its obviously shorting out. Looks like all his hard work was for nothing and it all has to be done again, Will have to rewire the unit from the light this time, just have to figure out how to open the little buggers without scratching them! Hope everyone has some sort of fun on their bikes today.

Hi, if you can get to the exposed copper maybe you can paint the wire with liquid insulation tape. Its sold at JAYCAR's and may be the less time consuming option for you. cant remember how much but if times money and you have to travel that 100k it might be a good option. Just a thought Ive used the stuff befor and have found it adequate on the CT110's, those little suckers have wire problems all the time some I'm forever repairing stretched wires. Steve

Hi Angel glad you got the problem worked out. Thought you may have pinched a wire somewhere. You did do a post on the saga , its in wa section. Going into the headlight to wire up is what i did. Had to lengthen the wiring from the indicators first, was a bit short then went into the oem wiring for the indicators behind the headlight. All soldered in for a good connection, haven't had any probs so far so thats a plus. Must be a good thing that wire paint Steve .never heard of it before. And they say you can't teach and old dog new tricks. ;D ;D Cheers ray

Yep now worries Scrap. Question ;that i haven't seen much ado about and that is when changing pipes like say your mate Kirky55 what happens to the gas arresters ,sensors or whatever they are called on the oem pipes. Does the say v&h pipes have locatins for these or do become obselite and if thats the case does it then effect the bike in any way. Sorry about the questions here mate but you do sound like a man that knows his stuff. ;D Whoops nearly forgot love your little smiley where you find him or her .( Can't be sexist here) ;D ;D Cheers Ray Hi Ray, I can answer this one For my 2008 VT750 Aero and V&H Cruizer pipes I had to have two holes cut into the pipes and connections welded in so that the sensors could be attached. It was a 2 hour job for a metal fabricator and my mechanic and was a 1st rate job. It looks like they came standard on the pipes. When I get a chance I'll take a couple of pics and post them. Regards, Adrian

Thanks for that Adrian. They are supposed to be on std now when you buy a set for the later model than yours, but if not it is good to know the job can be done. Being a metal fabricator come boiler maker and part time sheetty it should be a breeze if i do get a set. The jury is still out on them at the moment. ;D Might just get the 1/4'' drill and see what that does first. By all accounts they dont sound to bad .
Cheers Ray

Yippeee they are all fixed... Simon came to my rescue and we cut them off, he rewired them and got them adjusted properly so that i can see out of them. All i have to do now is go out and test them out which i will do on saturday. Next on the list is flagpoles and driving lights. My HSOCUK flags arrived today so I cant wait to get them flying .

Great news Jayne . I thought Simon would have fixed the prob. What did you have to do to get the mirrors right. . Don't worry about Steve sending you up Angel. Go onto Bears site in pommie land www.sphbc.com/ and guess who you will see on their website page. ;D ;D ;D Don't know how he cracked that. Am trying to get Rusty to fab up some club ones,he's been onto for a while now must see how he's goin with it. He's been busy with the dartboard modification so not to worried. He got it approved by their federation so cheers To him i say. Cheers Ray.
