A little bit of Australian research has been done on the effectiveness of protective gear for riders, by an academic who is also a bike rider. Worth spending 5min 38 secs listening to what conclusions can be drawn. Most of it obvious, but nice to hear the statistics - but also she's against mandating the use of protective gear. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlovDQM0TnA&feature=player_embedded

She makes sense, good stuff. Reminds me to get a new jacket, mine was getting a bit tight so I took out the shoulder pads ... not good I know Oh but there's a nice one I want .. much prettier than the one I have ... any excuse for shopping eh

Awesome stuff, and very logical approach! She makes a huge number of good points, particularly regarding the difficulty in policing, as well as the need for better consumer protection laws!

they should make more armoured classical wear for cruzers plenty out there for sports riders and nicer looking boots to encourage fashion concious riders to armour up and make it coll to do so.
but its good to hear that if you clad up properly you run less chance of maiming yourself generally
ps keep your eyes sharp and always look again doesnt matter how many times.
ride safe and GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

Just watched it. Great advice to be covered up at all times! Here in Queensland I see a lot of riders and their passengers (Why do most seem to be on Harleys?) wearing tee shirts, shorts and flipflops. Ahhh......the lifestyle! I shudder to think what would happen to all that exposed flesh if they ever come off. David.

Classic example of that was last weekend at the Ettamogah pub hey Radaco. That bloke giving out free rides on Harleys for sale. Didn,t realize untill he was leaving he and his missus was only in shorts and singlets and sneakers. The way he took off wasn,t flash either. The guy and girl in the background of the pic is them . So yes good article Scrap. Thanks doing a good job with these summary,s . Goes to show you what they say ,dress to survive not just ride . Cheers Ray Attachments:
