I have to agree with everyone who's advising "Head up" as being the big key to a successful u-turn . Remember the basics of your circle turns you have to do in your license test .. Head up , look where you want to go Even revs , ride the clutch and drag the back brake .. Counterbalance ... don't lean into it or you'll topple sideways The Shadows , like most cruisers don't have the worlds tightest turning circle , but with practice you can get them round in all but the tightest of side streets ..and even sports bikes won't get around in those . Thanks Graham, I'm going for my test next month until then I'm just gonna have to practice. I am getting better and doing all those things you mention, I just need to really concentrate to do them atm, I'm sure it'll get better when I've got more experience. I'm doing my test on a hired bike, not cause of the u-turns (because I dont wanna have to get up at 4am just to get there on time, I live a ways away from the test centre) but I'm also hoping they'll have more stable bikes for the u-turns.

The most useful practice imho is slow maneuvering around cones in a straight line about 2m apart because it helps you get used to the weight of the bike and how low you can lean before you scrape. Buy some cheap plastic cones and go to a car park on a public holiday and place them at the end of each line, about 10 in a row. After a few sessions you will notice the difference ...
