Just remember once you modify the standard pipe you cant go back, so if you get pulled over for noise you have to buy another standard pipe. Best to buy aftermarket pipes now and keep the original in the shed for when that day comes. Not if but when ;D

Shane's spot on there. I was lucky, I picked up an original set off ebay for $65 - they're the ones I've modified and I put the original originals in the shed - just in case.
Cheers ... Mark

Hi mate ,welcome. I have the 09 750 and needed a bit more rumble as you say . We have a local bloke here who does some custom work on exhausts so i gave him mine for a couple of days . Cost was $250 and i,m very happy with the extra noise. 8-)Not as much as say the V&H Cruzers but people definately hear me coming now compared to before. I note a couple of my fellow riders say it cant be changed but this chap said he can return it to a std. note. This way the std look is kept on the bike but by the same token iff i had a few spare $$$$ i would buy a set of said cruzer pipes. Iff you want to get a spare set of pipes though ebay would be the go . MRC done the same to his 400 and also very happy with the outcome. Note though we have the twin exhaust ,not sure iff your the same or just the 2 into 1 system . Cheers Ray

Ray's bloke must modify his pipes different to the instructions above as I can't see how you can return them to stock after punching/ drilling half a dozen hole in them as above

Ok so i basically tried drilling the pipes out with 1/2 inch drill bit welded to a extension bar. that made no difference to the sound. I got the shits so i grabbed a piece of 3/4 bar and smashed the back of the baffle plate in. This made it sound nice and thumpy n deep at idle, and throaty when you up it through the gears. not harsh at all, as i hate that sound. I think its straight tru, as i can see the catalic converters deep inside exhaust. the bonus is at night they glow red hot, so from behind it would look the part ! lol in all seriousness, i think the cat converter is giving stopping them from sounding harsh.

As i stated mine and MRC ,s are twin . Different exhaust system so therefore different mod ,of which can be returned to std. Been thinking of doing a set of 2 into 1 and seeing iff they would fit mine .I think they sound better done than ours. Cheers Ray

I was lucky, the previous owner had fitted Vance & Hines and gave me the originals for when they were needed, so far they've stayed in the garage gathering dust. The V&H have a nice rumble that lets everyone know your nearby

I am going the V&H Crusers, for $450 you can't go wrong. Getting them put on the same time the engine is being dropped to replace head gasket (died after 42000 k's), also putting K&H Filter and removing snorkel. So should be interesting how it goes.

Geez mate ,haven,t heard of the head gasket problem . Not many k,s up for that to happen . The V&H are great pipes you will love them. A dyno tune after your mods will make a big difference .

I put a set of V & H Cruzer pipes on my 2008 Spirit C2 and the rumble is great. Kept the stock ones. Cost $500 from Peter Stevens and fitted them myself in a couple of hours. I also put in two O2 eliminators that i picked up on ebay. very happy. ride safe
