Welcome aboard mate . Another 400 ,tops that ,lovely machines . They will be quite loud i reckon unless you can get some baffles . Loud is good but the blue boys aren,t to rapt in excessive noise . The V&h cruzers are a very good system for the shadows . The eliminators ,preferably keep them but you can get plug ins to fool the computer system . This way you not have to put bungs in your new pipes iff they dont come with them . Once you could buy a commander system to tune your bike ,then one would be best getting it dynotuned after that. Now you can just plug these straight to the wiring and they say no need to dyno . www.customdynamics.com/cobra_powerpro_tuner.htm. Cheers RAy

Hi Garrett
I've got the Vance & Hines short shots on my 2010 VT400. I installed them myself and it was very easy to do with no major worries.
They are crazy loud with the optional quiet baffles so I'm sure they will certainly be insanely loud without the quiet baffles. I'll include my youtube clip of them installed on my VT400 WITH the optional quiet baffles installed. I wrapped mine in Black exhaust tape but that's only because I like the old skool look.
This is my video WITH the optional quiet baffles installed. The bike sounds sweet as when idling but it's loud at speed (any speed lol)
I got the stock O2 sensor holes drilled into the pipes so I could use the O2 sensors but you can use O2 eliminators if you want. If you do get the O2 holes drilled out and a nut welded in you will need to extend the wiring on the top pipes O2 sensor wires. You will also need to work out where to place the O2 sensors as there is not a lot of room to work with. I can take a close up photo of my O2 sensor placement if that helps??
Lastly, although your Ebay price is good you can certainly get a better deal/price in Australia and have piece of mind with 'local' service if required. I got a price from an online Aussie supplier and my local bike shop 15min from me matched the price. Luckily, for me because the pipes came with the wrong baffles so the local shop promptly got onto V&H and 1 week later the correct baffles. I reckon that if this happened overseas/online/Ebay It would be a lot harder and even more expensive to get sorted...PLUS, it's always good to support your local bike shop. Mine with the quiet baffles ordered in Australia was $500 even!!! not bad and that was only a few months ago.
My Aussie price, Aussie supplied and sent to Tas. V&H Short shots $450 V&H optiona quiet baffles $50
Welding of the O2 bung $100
Extending O2 wire (free.. just needed 1 foot of electrical cable, solder, cable heatshrink & soldering iron)
Best listened to LOUD!!! lol
Cheers, Pete

The only thing you must do is make sure upon ordering if the have the o2 sensor bung holes or not . Great if they do ,if not you have to buy some sensor eliminators (around 20 bucks i think ).These plug into your wiring and tells the computer all is good . Other wise look into the power pro as i have discussed earlier' . Cheers Ray

hi run41t, not a 100% sure if that would fit but what myself, ray and others have found in the past is only parts for a vt750 aero will fit straight onto your vt400, when i started buying parts from the USA i would always email them tell them what model, year etc my bike is, what part i am after and will it fit without having to do any mods, have found them all to be very helpful and have not had to return anything i have bought, you can also email Simon at BAD PENNY CUSTOMS, he has a bike shop and is very helpful if you need to know anything, hope this helps, cheers, spinal.

Hey Pete. I listened/watched your youtube video but unfortunately when you started your bike I think one of your neighbors started shooting a machine gun so I could not hear your pipes properly over the machine gun blasting away ;D.

Ok, you have opened up a headache here mate. . Now if you go to the Bling, & Barney section on the home page and then click on Interest Web links it will open up a new world for you. . The first is our member Simon from Perth at Bad penny Custom s. He will get you anything you need. The rest is mainly o/seas sites. Custom cruising is one of the best there. Just go through them mate. A cheap but not bad alternative also is Ebay. Hit vt750 and that will start you going. Kakahealthcare is great cheap site. Not bad quality .However the gear from Simon and o/seas are. Cheers Ray
