Hi All I have been reading the benefits of wearing earplugs and I would like to know if you wear them, what make and where do I get them? Bear in mind I also use an intercom system. I'd appreciate your help with this cheers Fred

I use ear plugs all the time on the bike.... cost $1 from chemist... the foam ones... should have asked me when on the ride.... I could have shown u... If U R going to the Barby this monday, pull me aside and I'll show u ...
louie.
PS:- the wind raw with an open face helmet is deafening ... i usually say the ear plugs stops my ears from bleeding.... not to mention how much your ears hurt after a ride with out these....

G'Day Fred Don't know much about ear plugs,,but I guess collecting some from the chemist as Louie pointed out would be a good start to see how they feel.
Personally I prefer to hear whats around me,unless on a long streach of country road when I occasionally stick my Ipod on and enjoy the music to match the mood of my riding style. :-)
Regards Andy

G'day Fred, the foam ear plugs won't remove all the sound, so u can still hear the traffic around you, but will definitely help with the wind roar and protect your hearing. They do take a little of getting used too, but it comes easy after a while. Don't get a second hand helmet. Spend the dollars and buy new. You don't know what has happened to the helmet when get second hand. After all you only have one head.
louie.

I bought an Rjay G3+ twin shield full face helmet reduced to $179 at cullys yamaha balcatta I went for a ride and its comfortable way more quiet than my open face and so far so good. I looked at the hybrid tour tech but my chin touched th helmet so no go but it does explain why I stopped boxing in the army (too easy a target) thanks for all your advice cheers Fred

I wear ear plugs and use an intercom don't seem to have any dramas you will find some plugs keep a lot more noise out than others . I am not sure if they have a colour code rating , I have bought second hand helmets but you have to fairly meticulous when doing so the Shoei I wear was nearly brand new at a quarter of new price

Seriously you bought a 2nd hand helmet mate . Bit risky i would think but as long as your happy with the product and Shoei is a good brand. How old was it when you got it. Cheers Ray

Now that this earplug thread has been hijacked into a helmet thread !!! 1 head- 1 life = best helmet possible. BTW earplugs - I use earmold ones which are custom moulded to the shape of your ears. around $100 for just the pugs and around $230 for plugs that come as headphones.

Angel,
where did you buy those plugs, I got a quote for some from a hearing place for $200 + each and couldn't afford it. So went to a music place and found some that fit but aren't really that comfy. Would love to find some custom ones that are affordable.
