That,in fact,is not too far from the truth! Why I got a bike with a 500km range on a tank,Hope that spare bed is still available Ray. Just a tad concerned the arthro in the hands might be too bad, they cramp up a bit,and the doc tells me they haven't managed to put new joints in a tube yet,so not making any firm plans, might improve with the warmer weather

Hi Moe I completed the BV13 run as well - did the 1000kms with 15 minutes to spare. You guys must of had a great run heading to BV because mine was a bastard with the head wind, riding in from the east. At one stage I was down to 145kms a tank before switching to reserve - with normal running I get around 220km. I wasn't concerned about fuel - I carry 5 litres in the back - but I did have an unplanned refuel stop at Nundroo. You are right, the Shadow 750 isn't designed for long distance riding as a norm and as much as I enjoyed the challenge I doubt that I'll get into 1200 & 1600 km rides - at least not while I'm still working and certainly not with the Shadow. What I will say is that Scarlett didn't miss a beat - as reliable as ever and if your new beemer is half as reliable as Scarlett you'll have a great bike. Cheers ... Mark

Hi,Mark, looked for another shadow, but didn't see you.We had that headwind all the way back to Perth!Managed 147 on a tankful to Balladonia, largely responsible for the change of bike,as I had the same probs returning on the Broome run, my auxiliary tank wasn't enough, and we were reduced to carrying bottles of fuel.A windscreen would have been nice too,my shoulders felt like I'd been hanging from them, but complete reliability. One of our group had a flat rear tyre the morning after we got back, roofing nail,so he needs a new one,and only put it on the week before,It was an expensive few days.

Moe that sounds like a good ride, though what route are you taking to lienster, because meeka to lienster through Wiluna has about 240kl's of gravel. You could turn at Mt Magnet and go through Sandstone which is all bitumen to the goldfields hwy, that is the truck route to the northern goldfields. The truckies all stop at Sandstone for the night, there is a good pub and hotel so i am told.
