Hi Guys,
After a little bit of advice, tips, suggestions, and any good tidbits on offer.
I have my first pair of days off work since Betty has come into my life (Sun & Mon), and was planning on giving her her first good bath (i.e. wash & wax). I'm yet to actually purchase any cleaning products and am curious as to what you guys use, what's good / potentially harmful, etc?
As previously mentioned, I am an absolute novice, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
WG

hay i use a spray shine and wax on the paint work.. i found the car wash and polish seems to be a bit harsh on motorcycle paint work... as for chrome i use this stuff... best shyt in the world for chrome you can buy it anywhere really supermarket/ bunnings or even local auto store...

Meguirs Soft Gel wash is pretty good along with a lamb skin mitt. Meguirs Gold class(?) polish and the Meguirs scratch remover. Essential stuff along with the Brite Shine wadding Kingy mentioned above.

Haven't got around to using the Brite shine yet but i normally use the Maguires bike wash in a spray bottle. Quick wash off of any excess dirt than a quick spray of the wash . Wait about 15 secs then a full rinse off with water to make sure it's all gone . Then a good chamois wipe over and hey presto a beautiful shiny clean machine. Then i use Mr Sheen in a spray bottle on the chrome mainly to help with the shine and sparkle. Mr sheen is excellent to use on the shield it makes cleaning bugs off so nuch easier. In between major washes i use the Maguires spray and rinse . No water required . Their wax product is also damn good to use instead of polish ,brings up a beautiful paint shine. Cheers Ray

Also use the Meguirs Gold Class Wax and find it really good. I even give the chromework a polish with wax and it comes up nice and shiny. Check out this link for some good tips on preserving your paintwork. www.pollensoftware.com/shadow/shadowcare.html

Wow, much appreciated advice there guys!!!
Will look into the Bright Shine & Meguirs gear. I've recently been using a carwash for the car for the last 10 years...you know, the kind where 6 international university students wash your car while you sit with a Latte & newspaper waiting for it to be finished (Apartment living means I don't have a driveway or yard to clean the car). I know it's sad, but I love the coffee.
Betty will most likely be getting sponge-baths...as it's a secure underground carpark shared with other tenants of the bodycorp which she'll be bathed in. So not only am I'm out of practice when it comes to cleaning anything shiny, I also have a non-friendly environment in which to take care of my new girl.
All the above advice/links are greatly appreciated, and it seems Meguires is a popular choice. Thanks ALL!

Ok he is my two bobs worth, or 24 bad pennys ;D. I use a very weak solution of car wash and wax to wash the bike, spray it on in a spray bottle and then use tank water to wash off. after a cham I then get the air hose and blow an waer out of where I cant get at and then cham again. use Mr sheen on very thing and then micro fibre buff the stuff off. the screen I leave the Mr sheen on for about 5 min then wipe the bugs off. I find the bike shines and hold its shine great. the Mr sheen does not attract dust so thats good Dawg

The rinse and spray is the bees nees. The gold wax i reckon is better than using polish, lovely shine. Been using since owning the bike but still like mr sheen on the screen . Good for wiping of bugs. Cheers Ray
