To all SRA members, Yesterday I sent via George a letter to all Administrators and Officers notifying them of my intention not to re-nominate at the AGM. I am finding that obligations in my work and personal life are making the effective fulfillment of the President's position increasingly difficult.
I will not be leaving SRA, or in any way departing the scene, and will continue to support the group through merchandise sales and website management.
We have within our ranks those who have more than adequate skills and abilities to do the position of SRA Pres justice, and it's time for me to put to the welfare of our group first and stand aside to allow this to happen.
We started in 2009 with a handful of forum users and now have up to 300 users over any 24hr period, we have over 400 registrations and coordinators in nearly very State. What started with a hope of bringing a few Shadow owners together for friendship and encouragement has grown into a formidable and highly successful owners group.
George has in place the correct process and protocols for all positions being vacated in March including that of mine. Now is the time for you as members to be thoughtful and constructive in your comments and actions as we move into a new era of our group. I have been lucky to have helpers around me who have taken up the slack when I have be awol, and I am extremely grateful to them for doing so.

Russ it's with a little sadness that I write this, but only a little... You need to do what is right for you, and I sense that it is with the groups best interests in mind that you have made this decision. So it's the end of an era for SRA but the start of a new one that may take it to new places or maybe it will just continue to build on the greatness that you started all those years ago, for that I personally feel the need to say thank you for all the effort you have put into building the group to what it is today. It will be hard to fill your shoes, your calmness in moments of stress is a quality that is a rare find .. not to mention your just so damn nice!! I for one will always think of you as our fearless leader Having said all that ... what will be the go with putting forward nominations? Will it just be at the AGM (which I'm not sure is a great idea as even tho there are going to be more members than last meeting there, it's still only a mere fraction of the total membership) or will it be a forum thing? Good luck with everything you are up to Russ and cant wait to catch up with you at Bright Cheers Anna

Rusty, I must admit when I read this I was deeply saddened. As being around the forum for most of it, s inception iI found it hard not to be saddened by your decision. My thoughts are like MRC, s mate. You should stay as the appointed head of this great forum. But also like the terms he outlined. I can fully understand your thought, s on the subject but mate you are SRA. Been proud to of been a member for so long. Just wouldn't feel the same not having you there as a head figure. So let's hope we all can solve something to your requirements. Cheers Ray

Thank you Brenda, Ray and MRC. Your words are very kind and I write this here because I have no problem being open with all members - it is not the things I am doing that's the problem, it's my absence for long periods on the forum and lack of communication and planning with State Co-ords and Officers that causes my concern. George saved my sanity when he took on the role of Secretary last March, and he is doing a first rate job in this role and along with Shane289 is keeping Victoria moving forward and creating cohesiveness here and around the country. The President, especially in a group such as ours, needs to have a finger on the pulse of the organization at all times. My Admin Officers and Co-ords cover for me very well and do so without comment or ever trying to make me feel uncomfortable or awkward, and I am very appreciative of this, but long-term, not having a figurehead will be detrimental to SRA and confusing for members. I am very sentimental about SRA and my position as Pres but I cannot occupy the role soley based on my having founded the group as no one person can be given consideration above what is best for its members. Nominations for all positions need to be in writing and posted or emailed to George prior to our AGM. I will have George post on this thread the protocol for voting and appointment of all positions in the next day or so. Rusty

After receiving the email from George, then reading this thread. I am now speechless ( yes I know, it does happen ). Rusty I understand your position, but at the same time you are SRA, as has been said in this thread. I feel like I've been kicked in the gut. As in huge sadness that u are vacating this position. U have been a great leader in peril & your leadership shall be missed hugely. What ever role u choose to fulfil in SRA I'm sure u will do an excellent job. Being it as a member only or in another capacity.
Louie.

As a new member to SRA I too am saddened by your decision but at the same time understand that this must be a hugely difficult one for you to make. I wish for you nothing but the best Rusty for the future. I am happy to hear you are not leaving us entirely.

Rusty without you there would not be an SRA. As one of the first members i find it very difficult to imagine SRA without you. I think that you should remain as the figurehead and president, even if its only a non working position. Your hard work at setting up the group should NEVER be let to slip away. In general people do not like change, but i think if the pot is stirred up too much the whole thing can dissolve, as happened here in WA recently. Having some thin thread holding us altogether will keep the national spirit up especially for members who are yet to be. Whether the role is officially abandoned or not I think that you are, and always should be the face of SRA

Whether the role is officially abandoned or not I think that you are, and always should be the face of SRA Angel I dont think we'll will ever not call him "PRES" even if retired. Yea I agree.. he has a fatherly feel about him & is SRA but it wont go away he'll just become a "GRANDPA SHADOW biker ex pres" to us all. As a memeber & as i feel a mate if he is ready to step down then we should all stand & cheer. Then remember... After that we can rib the hell outta him lmao!!!! J/K . He'll always hold that within our group & no one can replace it... They will just have to STEP UP & MATCH it at least... & I'm sure who ever takes the roll will get just the same from us all. Change suxs but hell it happens.... At least Mr T Abbott rides a pushbike so we are VERY SAFE there hey can't be him lmao!!!!!!! No I dont know what the WA issue is but like all things it will work out for the best when members put in the right effort. NSW we are all over the shop (I feel most live hours apart & have busy lives that screw up ride time) but I wont stop banging the SRA drum (ima deaf so even if bad I can't hear it lmao)& bragging about us to all riders I meet. Cheers Angel you'll see be all good in the end... We just need very loud pipes on our bikes so everyone knows WHO WE ARE!!!!! SHADOWS!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Russ sorry to hear about you stepping down as President. The Shadow owners group wouldn't be what it is today without you. I also understand that we all have life changes and other priorities that take us on other journeys and i for one are really grateful to be part of this wonderful group of enthusiastic owners thank you ... I also think that you should stay as our President even if we don't hear from you for a while. I'm sure that you have Staff members that will step up and help out hope it works out for you mate and as you know we are here for each other. I'm sure that the support that we as a group will pull you though.

hey I understand rusty, that you and bg have been spending all youre spare time nailing those darts boards, because youre worried about the competitiom come march from mrc , he is a bloody formidable dart players, yep mrc said hed clean up blind folded.
but on a more serious note, thanks for youre leadership, ive gained a friend and comrade, wether you are president or not, ill always ride with you, and bg as he now has a real bike, you have a bed at our place, ill change the sheets first mrc has flogged them. things change in life, circumstances change, but nothing can take away great memories and mateship, as what the Anzac spirit was built on. once again thanks rusty.
