Hey Fellow Shadow Riders. Happy New Year! I hope 2014 is a safe and prosperous year for all. Down to business. My name is George ( 56george ). I'm fairly new to Shadow Riders Australia. But I have met some of you on previous rides and Meet and Bleets. Louie the fly is doing the big ride around Australia at the moment and I thought it would be great to kick off the new year with a Meet and Bleet later in January. Previous Meet and Bleets have been held on the 3rd Sunday of each month and so I would like for these to continue at the same frequency. What are you thoughts. Of course I do not want for the Meet and Bleets to upset plans for group rides organised by other members. If we can agree that the 3rd Sunday of each month be set aside for Meet and Bleets then SRA rides can be arranged around this day. Please if you have a location in mind where we can meet for a coffee and a chat feel free to share. SRA members seem to be spread approx 75kms north and 75kms south of the city so we can either share the ride around ( north location one month and a southern location the next) Or meet at a central location. Would love to hear from you all. Thanks George Tawhiti.

Hey George , From the one WA SRA who doesn't fit the 75k North/South mold cause he's 65k's East ....the 3rd Sunday of this month is Australia Day ..could be difficult to get much in the way of attendance for the M&B on that day.. I for one will be busy setting up for a fireworks display...and as much as I enjoy a good M&B , it just aint quite as much fun as launching stuff into the air and making it go boom.. As I discussed with Louie when he was getting the M&B's going the first time , I personally favour the "share it around" method of locating them ...if they're always in the same place they start to feel a bit stale , but as always it should be majority rule ( we live in a democracy after all ) so I'll be a part of as many as I can wherever they end up. Cheers Trog

Thanks troggy for the headsup re Australia Day. I think Australia Day is 26th which is the 4th Sunday in January 2014. The 3rd Sunday is the 19th. I too agree we should alternate North and South and East. I then propose a Meet and Bleet to be held on the 19th of January 2014. Venue to be confirmed. Open to suggestions.

You'd be right there George , my count was a bit off ..hehehe I have to do fireworks at four Wildcats home games this month and the week of Australia Day is the third one of those which threw me out of sync with the real world .... 19th works for me , lets just agree on somewhere with good food and coffee.... Cheers Trog

Onya George for initiating the 1st Meet and Bleat for 2014 and the 19th works for me.
I know of a central location (Mt Hawthorn) that has good food, great coffee, plenty of parking and indoor/outdoor seating. It's called The Peasants Table at The Mezz if you want to look it up. We can meet and bleat and possibly go for a ride along the coastline afterwards. I only live 500m away from the place but it usually takes me an hour or so to ride home the long way.

Hey roughy. All the best for the new year. Thanks for the recommendation for venue for the 1st Meet and Bleet. I'm more than happy to meet at I take its open on Sundays and there's parking near bye. Louie gave me a list of names and contact details so we agree on a venue now and post details here in the forum and I could text reminders a week out from the event.

Yeah George. They're definitely open Sundays from breakfast onwards. Plenty of parking too, either undercover or open areas. I'll vouch for the quality of the coffee and I'm very hard to please in that regard.

Here's a map of where to find The Peasant's Table. It's 2km from Charles St along Scarborough Beach Rd. If heading west on Scarborough Beach Rd, after passing the Paddo turn right at the set of lights at Flinders St. Take the 2nd driveway on the right which is the entrance into the undercover carpark.

Just to confirm Meet and Bleet. 10am. 19 January 2014 The Peasants Table, The Mezz. 148 Scarborough Rd. Mt Hawthorn. Food and Coffee sounds great and I'm sure the company will be too. Apologies to those who find this time difficult. We can discuss this issue when we meet. This would be a good opportunity to also discuss the groups plans for growth. Bring along. Some ideas.
