Everyone wants to set up Facebook accounts. Why do we need Facebook accounts? Who is going to moderate these things? Rusty? George? The State Co-ordinators? Whats the problem with creating some threads in this Forum? Are they 'private'? Who decides whether you get accepted there or not? Aren't they a potential for exclusivity or subversive rants? I would rather have all things free and open. I read the SRA Policy page. It says that this forum is provided for all SRA communications. Everyone wants to set up Facebook accounts. Why do we need Facebook accounts?

Why do we need Facebook accounts? SRA does not have a facebook site. The HONDA SHADOW OWNERS AUSTRALIA page on facebook has nothing to do with SRA apart from some members being part of both groups. SRA has no control to what is said on facebook and in the past things have been said there that upset members then the people drag the B/S over to our forum. Please keep it separate from SRA. Facebook is very easy to use & post photo's that's why people use it. I have a facebook account and keep in touch with friend & family all over Australia. Cray it's got nothing to do with SRA, Just some people are members of both groups.

1. cray said -- Everyone wants to set up Facebook accounts? -- I haven't heard we were changing to Facebook?? Many of us have had facebook longer than this forum has been around! 2 Why do we need facebook accounts? -- we don't NEED to, we choose too. I for one, will continue too. It's fun! :-) 3. Who is going to moderate things? -- The moderators moderate here, the SRA forum, and do a good job, different people moderate facebook! 4. No problems with posting threads here or facebook, if you chose to, just post away! :-) 5. Isn't there potential for exclusivity and subversive rants? -- yes, there is, but we see that here too, it happens everywhere, unfortunately. The thing about forums and facebook is we can have an input. The SRA is our place, a place where we can get together, talk bikes, plan rides, get help if we need, have a joke or two, and enjoy each others company. Heaven forbid, if an idea springs into our heads, we should be able to say it, without smart comebacks or senior members threatening to leave if their world is rocked a little. If people can't, or are not game, to say anything, for fear of upsetting the hierarchy, or each other, well, what a boring place it would be! We are ALL entitled to a say, no matter how silly it may seem to some! As long as its said in a civil way!! To answer you cray, get a Facebook if you want one, if not, don't. The Honda Shadow Owners Group ( Facebook) is another place for Shadow Owners to get together, talk share info and pics about their shadows. The mods there do a great job as well.
Hope this helps.... Chrisso

Who gives a flying f%#*ing toss. I joined SRA to meet up with like minded riders and enjoy a day out on our bikes, the rest is getting to sound like a whole lot of bullshit. Facebook or no Facebook, have you heard yourselves?

Actually Puffy the reason for these questions was that there have been posts recently pointing towards FB that have caused a bit of a stir here, and there has also been mention that rides will be organised thru FB. So Cray and I were just kinda wondering about it all. Shane answered our question first up when he said that FB is not SRA, I was always under the impression that it was. Not all of us are lucky enough to be in the position to ride all the time as you know, so the forums are a way to meet people, catch up with freinds we've already met, learn new and exciting things and well you get the picture. If it does all end up going to facebook, I for one would have to find a new forum And thats why the questions (at least I think so, he's my husband but sometimes even I dont always understand him ). It wasnt to stir anything just voicing a genuine concern. Thanks to the responses here from Shane and MR Anti-Facebook my mind has been set at rest

As far as I know SRA has never thought of closing the forum and going to Facebook, don't know where that rumor is coming from. At one stage there was a FB SRA run by Rusty but it lacked numbers so Rusty closed it down and joined the current one. Like I said both groups are totally separate, the only common thing is we share some of the same members and interest. This is not a them v us as both groups have there good and bad points and can continue to grow side by side with common interest. So if you like the Forum Good, If you like FB Good and if you like both then that's great. If you have a concern over SRA please send MRC or George a private message or email before you post it on the forum, might just stop a lot of drama. which seems to be happening a lot more lately. Please end of Story. Only good stories from now on

Well I will admit I am a huge Facebook user especially in my profession, I will say I rather the forum and how it works than Facebook and be in more I touch with the SRA and really know what's going on. I also have joined the shadows on Facebook and I don't like how it is open, meaning anything I post is seen by all my Facebook friends on my professional Facebook page which I really don't like as I like certain things to my private life stay private, hence why I love the forum.

Hi Guys. I know I am only new a new member to the SRA, but I agree it should stay the same as it is using the forum. I joined face book ages ago for something to do I wish I had not I find that a hell of a lot of people just post pure sh--it most of the time on it.

Sorry, I have a life and Facebook isn't part of it. Others live by Facebook and that's fine by me as long as THEY understand that using Facebook as a means of communicating with me won't work - it's not a criticism of those who use Facebook and by the same token - don't have a go at me for not adopting this form of social media and mass messaging. Looking forward to debating "Facebook and other instruments of the Devil" at Bright (but only after concluding the debate on "The Man Cave - Modern man's need for thinking time") Cheers ... Mark
