Down here in Tasmania and did the first oil change today just under a 1000 kms. Unfortunately, the owner's manual does not specify reading the dipstick screwed in or just resting on the lip. My Suzuki is rest it but someone said screw it in. Anyone with a 400VT please let us know, thanks

Bike upright ,dipstick not screwed in for engine. And if you do the diff you have the bike on side stand and fill until oil is ready to start dripping out fill hole.Cheers

Thanks Croc and Ray, Its Traversing back as Kuri77 has gone to his accommodation, we had a nice trip up the mountain tonight and I have a day off tomorrow thanks to my Boss so we will go up the East Coast and then the guys will continue on the next days to the boat to head back to the big island. Look after them when they get over your way as they are great people.

+1 on having the bike level and having the oil checker at rest.
To be a smartarse the dipstick always checks his oil.
