G'day all,
I recently purchased a top box from third gear stores.ebay.com.au/thirdgearaustralia through ebay
I had a problem with it as explained in the email to them (copy below) and the email was only to warn them of a possible problem, I sent the email yesterday
G'day,
I've had a problem with the box that you need to be aware of.
Yesterday we were riding along and the box came off the bike, it is attached to the pack rack as it is supposed to be with the fittings supplied, but with the heat of the day (36 degrees) and my wife resting on it, the box warped and came off the 2 lugs at the front of the fixing plate.
As it is mounted on the back of the bike it is unavoidable for the pillion to rest on it.
I have had to drill holes into the bottom of the box to permanently attach it to the fixing plate to stop it from happening again.
A warning needs to go out, that if the box is going to be used as a back rest for a pillion, it needs to be permanently attached to stop it from separating from the attaching plate.
I am not the type of person to sue for this sort of thing happening, hence this email, but there are more and more people out there who will, the reason for this email.
I am happy with the box pity it now has scratches on it
Frank
I thought that was the end of it
today I get this reply
Hi Mate
Thanks for contacting us regarding your top box purchase.
We've sold 1000's of these over the years and have never heard of this happening before.
We are going to send out a new top box today.
Cheers!

I was first aware of this when I got an email from Australia post that a parcel from Third Gear was on it's way
It's not often one gets such service, especially over the net, so it's worth passing on
I haven't yet checked out what else they sell that will fit the bike, but they'll be my first stop from now on
