Evening all, today I thought I would give the bike a wash and see if I could ride with my crook back. Well after a hose down I started giving it a shamey, That's when I noticed it, Oil mixed with water on my front wheel. Yep fork seal gone so with upside down forks it dribbles down and lands on the wheel, Bloody hell. Well at least it didn't happen half way to Toowoomba. So I Pulled them off but will need to take them to get done as you need special tools. Lets hope the stealers don't charge to much to supply and replace the seals and oil. Hoping to try a ride next week.
So tip of the week is make sure there is no oil around the top of your forks dust seals or going down the side of your forks on the VT's.

I haven't changed the fork seals, only removed the forks and changed the oil. But I can't help you with any insight as to the seals. The dealers price doesn't sound to bad though considering their time and effort. David.

The seal kits are $53 each side plus oil, rest is labour. Mine are original so if I get another 10 years out of them I'm happy. Plus I dont have the special tools needed to do them myself.

New seals and fork oil made a big difference to the ride. You might want to look at changing the fork oil if it hasn't been done. They put 10w oil in mine.
