Last night at work (10pm),
I had one of our security guards come up and ask if I rode into work last night (I'm one of the supervisors at my workplace and the guards know I ride).
"Nope, why?"
"Someone tried to steal a bike and it's now out on it's side"
Followed him out to the parking area and my mate's sportster 48 was on it's side with the alarm going off and a CBR on its side too. So we put it back on it's stand and called the fuzz.
We reviewed the security footage and see 3 guys in a Subaru liberty do a few laps of the carpark, then stop right next to our bike shed (we have a shelter to park our motorcycles in). 2 guys get out, one gets on the sportster and another on a CBR1000. About 30 secs later the lights on the Harley start flashing and they simply drop both bikes on their sides, jump back in the car and disappear.
After this we bring both bikes on the factory to look at them for damage in the light.
Both bikes have destroyed ignition barrels where the amateurs jammed pairs of scissors in the switch, and both have damage to the sides.
Later in the evening we discover several cars had also been broken into and 2 with broken windows.
I'm glad I didn't ride in, scissors would probably have started my bike.
The Harley alarm basically saved 2 bikes, they have an excellent system.
A good reminder that when you have something nice, some mongrel is out there ready to ruin it for you.

Police came this morning, we got the number plates of the offending car, of course it was stolen too. On of the guys at work has a nice EH Holden, they had a go at that too and stole some CDs out of another car.
Mongrels...

If your bike has the Honda HSS security system I doubt a pair if scissors would have started it, as it needs the coded key to enable the ignition. Rodaco
