Well I almost got "merged into" today. On my ride home on the highway I was overtaking a semi and he decided that once I was halfway down him that he would like to use the lane that I was in as well (dual lane). Jumped on the anchors a bit and slid back behind him. Gave him a serve as I overtook him with horn and arm/hand actions. Contemplated attempting pulling him over for some "words" but thought better of it as I was in uniform. Got the heart started but hey could have been worse! Just one more reason I ride, it's great for situational awareness!

Glad you came out of that OK mate. Have to have ones wits with all the time for sure. When I'm passing a semi I make sure before I go he knows I'm there . Then a quick pass is done . Different situations can occur however. Cheers. Ray

Yeah I wasn't taking my time. I pulled out and waited till I thought he'd notice me then went. Just wasn't meant to be. Would have been good if he used his mirrors.

Rule 1. Ride as though EVERY person on the road is trying to kill you. This is because they are but they may not be conscious of it.
Funnily enough I saw an ad by supercheap (i think) telling drivers to look for motorcycles and do head checks. great to see a major company promoting road safety for ALL road users and not just cages.

Thats how I've survived this long BPC so many near misses that would have been hits if I wasn't on the ball. 9 years on the road no accidents (involving other vehicles). The Big Guy definitely has an Angel on my back!
