Bikes been on the ramp all day, getting serviced for friday,I cleaned it as well! Problem- the meet is in Perth and they are leaving at 6.0 am, and a morning person I'm not, need to leave home before 5.0, At least it should be dry and COLD,weather isn't looking too promising for next week,so the coastal loop will probably get a miss for a few weeks

Have a good trip Moe - there's over 50 FarRiders going to be there. Would love to have done this run - no bike, arm still in thermo-plastic cast. Ride safe mate.

Hi Moe, onto stage 5 (and last stage) of the reno. Plans have been drawn and have been approved by local council. This is a simpler renovation - ensuite & walk in robe extension (doubling in size ..... and yep - she who must be obeyed is exstatic with the dimensions of her new 2.5 x 3m dressing room) plus a single carport. Site prep is complete - but I can't dig at the moment with my left hand in a cast.
So the workshop has had a cleanup and face lift, the garden shed has been re-organsied with new implement racks and storage and the potting shed now has a paved floor. New smoke detectors in the house and works shop, trailer re-wired, car serviced - there's always something that needs doing - and if I get bored - she ALWAYS finds something for me to do!

Short report on the facebook page ] Well, the border run is finished,3,085kms in 4 days, need a bigger bike!about 80 bikes there, nearly all big cruisers,or dual sports. first day we had 180kms of thick fog,and left border village in the same soup, but at the botton of Eucla pass it cleared due to the strong headwind we had all the way to Perth, strong enough to put my mileage down to 150kms before reserve, needed to carry fuel, consumption coming back was 15 km/ltr,and the bike is in excellent tune, not having a windcreen my shoulders are a bit sore, but otherwise no probs,Sons bike lunched its chain and tore the clutch housing off, don't know the extent of the damage yet,his wife had to drive from Perth to 60kms east of Southern Cross with the trailer, couple of us stayed with him for a few hours, then towed him 20 kms to a fuel stop and left ,got in about 8.0 last night, rode the last 150 from Northam in the dark, via Toodyay and the valley to miss the Perth traffic, doing that road in the dark was 'interesting" Marshall did the ride on a 200cc scooter! top speed-more than the shadow, and 500+ on a tankful, and it kept up through the valley without effort, might have to trade the shadow in on one(but it was the new Aprilia!,not cheap, but some machine. Great ride for you there Moe ,but a hard one by the seems mate . Mmmmm reading a bit between the lines i,d say you are thinking of a bigger machine old friend. How about a bigger one for that riding and keeping the 750 for local and club rides . Best of both worlds . Ken is going to cruise on a 1500 i think .May be in the shed this week . Stay safe old mate and clean that bloody bike . Cheers Ray

You're not wrong mate,it was probably the toughest ride I've done in recent years, the shadow really wasn't up to what was needed, the others had to keep making allowances for me,which spoilt it a bit,but I'll do it next year(if I get invited),going to look at a big beemer tomorrow, but will, sadly, have to sell the shadow to get it. Since leaving your place I've done nearly 30,000 on long runs, and the shadow has never missed a beat, and is still as good as ever, but it desperately needs a bigger tank,on the Broome run I needed to carry at least 4 ltrs.so it isn't really able for the Perth-Darwin-Adelaide run.

Kudos to you for completing the ride. I thought the 750 might struggle a little on a long distance ride such as this, especially with a strong chance of a head wind at some stage. Don't know if I would have been able to complete it on my old shadow but well done!

Gee Bill, it's sad to hear the shadow struggled but that's what it's all about isn't it, these long hard runs really are the ultimate test and there's probably no better testing ground than Australia. The outback, the environment, the extreme weather conditions, distances and so on all take their toll on both rider and machine. Good on you for doing the run. I'd love to do runs like these and will some day. Take care Bill and stay safe. How did the BMW shape up? Good choice.
