Hi Guys, Something weird going on here! you know how we went the back way out of Mundijong and came to the intersection of Karnup Road (the one we were on ) this is on the corner of Falls Road and South Western Highway and I was in lead sitting there you may remember (or do google maps) there is a church and petrolstation/cafe there. Any way we turn right off Karnup Road onto South Western Highway. I just google mapped and you have to go down the highway at least a k before you see a 110 sign, there seems to be no sign indicating highway speed from turning right off Karnup road onto South western Highway turning south. I got a infringement notice today for 92k's in a 80 this is fishy! Guys I may need your help (does any one have GoPro of this) I am jumping on the bike tomorrow first thing and redoing that intersection and first 0 to say 900 metres down the highway its a rear number plate shot. Did any one else get pinged. I think you would all agree I am pretty sensible etc with regard to observing the road rules. Fair dinkun I'll take this to court if there is no sign when we make that right hand turn off Karnup road indicating 80's as the limit on that section of South Western Highway. Grayshadow:( The location quated on the infringement notice is:' " Sth Western Highway, Serpentine, Nr Falls Road Offence time: 10.34

There should be a sign as soon as you turn onto new rd but they wont replace them quick enough if they have been knocked down.... or something... as is the case over here... Hope it works out well.... 2nd: IF YOU have not had a SPEEDING fine in the last 10yrs write a letter to them its on your notice... they will take the points but you keep the cash. Louie knows we told him. You play dumb & say ya new to that area..

Thanks for that mate, leaving a police station recently after reporting my wifes traffic accident when some one ran into her, we only travelled a short distance came to a green light traffic was moving so I went ahead and the traffic in the lane ahead stopped, so I was caugth with my 3 quarter of the car caught in the intersection, naturally I felt uncomfortable anxious as I did not want to cause any delay to anyone (although there was enough room to pass the rear of my car any way) traffic starts to move I rejoin the traffic unmarked police car sticks it's magnet on the roof and sirens blare. I pull over get out and go and see what seems to be the problem (first time I have ever had a police car pull me over) I am in business attire, and get greeted with a yell "Get back in the car" like an episode of "Bad Boys" I had not been drinking (zero) they would not even let me out of the car to get my wallet from my rear pants pocket which I was sitting on. They took my licence came back about 12 minutes later realising they had picked up some one that has had 1 demerit point in the last 25years. The policeman told me I would not get a demerit point but the $100.00 fine still applies. Turns out he was just appeasing me I was told by the poliicestation when I returned on another day to express my dissatisfaction that this would attact 2 Demerits as well. I then wrote to the police explaining all the above got a letter back congradulating me on my driving history but however the infringement notice would not be cancelled a lot of the letter was generic cut and paste etc. (I don't have a criminal record of any sort either). They had the opportunity to turn this into a positive P/R excercise but chose to rub my nose in it. This is the same police department that recently sent me half the court summons documents of a person up for serious aggravated assault charges resulting in injury instead of sending my sons complete summons kit for a traffic offence because of simple police administratioin error (stuff up) I took the documents for the person envolved to the police station and handed them in, had I not done so (this person) would have never got their court summons and would have been in contempt of court. I am absolutely dissalushioned by the police perhaps I was naive. And now I get this latest ok I'll check it out if there was a sigh I'll cop it if there wasn't I am going to fight it.

G'day Greyshadow. Sorry I am unable to help with any gopro footage as I was still on the Tonkin heading down to join at the lunch point. After reading your post my advice is this. The fine will be $150 if I remember correctly ( not from experience, but living on the road it helps to know the dollar value of fines ). You will also incur a two point penalty, as fine is between 10 & 19ks above the posted limit. The court costs you will incur is $100 court cost + the fine if u are unsuccessful, $100 even if u win. The argument the court will use is, "ignorance is no excuse, you must be aware of the law, so here is your fine + costs." So just be aware you will be more out of pocket if u take it to court. It is almost unheard of that you will win. The odds are very much against you. My two cents worth, for what its worth. Is do the letter thing & explain the circumstance,( no sign, good driving record etc ) as this will cost you nothing. But it will cost the govt time & money to investigate the issue, ( more than the fine ). Also this will give u added time if u are unsuccessful. As the fine is temp suspended whilst they investigate, but very importantly DON'T pay the fine until this process is complete. They will notify u by way of letter whether the fine is quashed or still stands. As soon as u pay the fine, you have admitted guilt to the offense in the eyes of the law. louie

Louie, That's great advice thanks heaps, I went out there yesterda Louie and Crew there is no sign when you turn right off Karnup Road and travel right on South Western Highway the first sign you see is about a kilo metre down the road whilst travelling in that direction and that is 110. If you turn left off Karnup Road and travel down South Western High way then you encounter the 110k sign. On the reverse of this sign is 80k same with the sign at the opposite end when you turn right off Karnup Road the 80k sign is on the reverse of the 110 sign also a kilo meter down the road from the interection. So simply there were two sighs of 80ks both appoximately 1k from the intersecton of Karnup Road to catch traffic travelling north and South alond South Western Highway. Were we came out on the corner of Karnup and South Western there is no Speed sign and it is Rural at this intersection. If I pay this fine which is probably inevitable how has this made my driving any safer. Best Greyshadow

Greyshadow, there would've been a sign on Karnup Rd as well leading into Serpentine, probably a 70kph or 80kph, and that would carry over onto SW hwy. That intersection with the services, church, caravan park and SW hwy either side has been 80kph for as long as I remember.
