I has been pointed out quite unceremoniously that MY ANGEL DOES NOT FLY FAST ENOUGH.
I admit I find riding difficult in a group of experienced riders, I feel their frustration at having to "babysit" me.
I am totally out of my depth on a long ride. 800 km (400 each way) on my L plate, on a 250 and only ridden max 20 times.
I see the body language of the one who is supposed to care. He just want to go, who am I to tell him no.
I bought my bike to participate in a passion, however the passion has its own agenda.
I am undecided if
a) I will keep riding at all b) I will bring my bike to Bright (Yes I can ride in NSW on my L`s) c) If I will even bother coming to Bright at all.
Yes I know I need to practice more.
Not sure why I am even sharing this but I am, Just a Girl I guess.

I hear you, I am on L's too. I will just be pillion at Bright.will probably drive and ket Muttley ride on his own. Even considering not going for my bike licence. I find it hard with long rides as I have bad arthritis in throttle hand so yes I understand why you are thinking this. Guys just dont get it.

Keep going you have come this far now. We only ride here to the pace of the least experienced. It takes a while. It must of been heartbreaking if someone has said your too slow. Everyone been there. Hey look in the bright side, buy a 400, still legal for you and you, ll have enough power to keep up more consistently. So don't feel bad just go and prove the bastards wrong. Cheers Ray

Ladies your half way there, do yourself a favor and get your brief and keep riding what you have now, then when all your restrictions are over go and by a nice bike with a bit of power it make all the difference. You don't have to use the power but it makes everything easier to do. or then give it away but you will still have your full licence so if you get that itch later on you will be right. A lot of people by a bike then realize they don't like to ride, Some like me just love it. Only you will really know. I don't care if you both walk to Bright I want to see you there

You're the main offender but have not been the only one.

Wendy, stick with it at your own pace. My wife and I are both on L's. I have become more confident than her, but that's because of the Kms I have done. 13000+ to her 1500+. Yes I do go faster than she at times, but that's ok. The way we do it is sometimes I meet her where we are going. Other times I do her speed. Then there are times I have to catch up to her. Don't worry about the 250cc thing either. The bike is what you make of it. My wife rides a 250 intruder and she loves it. In fact I know it will a long time before she upgrades, if ever. As for long rides, some like them, others don't. Even experienced veterans on 1000cc+ can dislike a long ride. My wife is not keen on long rides, so we do rides together that suit her and save my longer ones solo or with mates who also enjoy a longer stint. Don't let yourself get down because of your other half. I have only met him a few times, and i think anyone would be hard pressed to keep up with him. Perhaps no more red lollies and cordial might be a start to slowing him down . What I am saying is stick with it, don't worry about what others think/ say/ do. Part of the appeal on a bike is the freedom. Freedom from the world, walls, closed in cars, and people. A time for you and no others. On that bike, inside your helmet, there is only you after all.

Wendy, you said you were following a passion, who's? If its yours, how can you let someone dampen the pleasure of the ride. Everyone learns and grows at the own pace. I don't understand why the speed of each rider is an issue, we all get there in the end. Its not about the destinations and how quickly you get there, its the journey. You just enjoy for you, don't let anyone spoil it for you. You can ride with us Victorians anytime. Keep the passion. Cheers Paul

Well some wise words there. Inspiration, thanks. I absolutely love being on the bike. Bit obcessed actually, just wish I had understood years ago what Muttley saw and felt about riding..Late starter, alot older than Wendy witch but hey I will hang in there. Just need more practice. Lack confidence especially on these dangerous country pot holed roads......thanks oh by the way mine is intruder 250 too
