I thought I would take some time because is raining I couldn't be bothered doing anything else more taxing give a review on the Kevlar jeans I have, I bought a set of Dragon jeans when I first bought the bike retail was $240 but I got them on special at $200. Now those that don't know me I do 90 ks a day commuting so wanted something comfy. The Dragons were certainly comfy but at the 10,000k mark the arse was wearing thin. Then one day when I was riding home in the rain I gave a stretch and the denim tore in the bum. Let me point out that the Kevlar is still good at this stage just the denim is shot.
So it time to get a new set but at 10k and 9 months old the dragons are of the list, so start searching for and alternative. Found the Dri-riders latest version of jeans might fit the bill at half the cost of the dragons. Found a shop that had them in stock so went for a look see but their price was 190 bucks and they were he'll bent on selling me a set of dragons at 250 bill. When I said I only got 10,000 ks out of the last set they said that sounds about right. Now this equates to 111 days of commuting and I have other jeans that are way older than that and the only reason I don't still wear them is somehow they shrunk
So anyways I found a pair of the dri-riders on line for about a 100 bucks. Sizing is a slightly larger than the other jeans as i wear a 36 and these quite big. Now these jeans have a removable CE knee armour that is slightly adjustable and sits on the knee well when riding, but due to the generous sizing I suspect they would not offer much protection as they sit below the knee when standing. Time will tell for getting better than 10k out of them but at 5k they are looking ok. The only real grip I have is that the denim is a stretch type and they feel like they get bigger as the week progresses.
At this stage I would buy them again but a size smaller but I do prefer the Dragons for fit but at 2.4cents per kilometre work out to over 10 bucks a week added to the cost of commuting.
Cheers
