Some are saying its risky with wearing the new sra back patches. I cant see the difference between wearing ine on your leather vest to wearing the SRA mesh vest. Same principle surely. Its one patch not 3

Its one patch not 3 Didn't think the big new one would be a problem. I think it's the curved Shadow one from o/seas could be a problem. George has stated that in the General Board section . I posted this elsewhere on the forum and I thought I would post it here also.
Generally the wearing of back patches is not the issue, it is rockers with the patches. There are a number of motorbike social groups and clubs who wear back patches. The most recognised club is Ulysses. They have a large back patch. Some years ago Ulysses also had rockers and some Ulyssians from all around Australia were given grief by some of the 1% groups and in some cases were assaulted. As a result the Ulysses club stopped the wearing of rockers and everything has been fine. Having said that, Ulysses are well known and everybody recognises their back patch. The one issue I can see wearing the SRA back patch is that it might attract curiosity, perhaps from the 1% group and perhaps even from police. The curiosity would be more about who is this new group and who are they. Without wearing patches etc we are generally anonymous and no-one cares. Once you wear a back patch, you lose that anonymity and that's when curiosity as to who you are and who is this Shadow Riders Australia mob might come into play. All police states throughout Australia have good intelligence regarding each and every OMCG in Australia, but when a new patch is seen again curiosity might step in. Although generally I don't think the wearing of a back patch will be a concern, the choice of wearing them is up to the individual, but perhaps be mindful of the curious asking who you and SRA are.

I think state Police in all, will see it as a social club patch? It looks nothing like a 1% patch and the local plod will know that? One major difference? (Unless one wants to be a complete tool?) Is there is no 1% patch? That all om clubs have on their colours? Or on the back near their own patch? Like the Ulysses backpatch which no ones has a problem with?

Any patch on the back attracts attention. I have another vest with the Ulysses back patch. I had 2 police inspectors make a be-line towards me in a shopping center. One actually put his hands on me to turn me around so he could see the patch, then he relised his mistake.
He said "Oh sorry, you are one of the good guys". To which I replied, "Yes I am a cranky old bastard".
As for the grief the Ulysses got, the result was, under their rules, if you have the back patch, absolutely no other patch is allowed on the back. Whether it is a rocker or not (includes ride souvenir patches, name tags, humor patches, ect), no other patch is allowed.

There is no problem, with SRA at least, wearing back patches, as George has said. He has also said, expect added attention too. From police, bikers, bikies and the the general public. Why? because when we wear back patches we look like bikies!! It's common knowledge, when these new laws came to pass in Queensland, the the police were intercepting and questioning riders who looked like 'outlaws'!!! Just look up "Jamie Evans" in u tube for some examples and there are MANY more documented cases. We even had a police officer in Bundy I think it was, say publicly, talking about bikers, saying "if it walks likes a duck, dresses like a duck, talks like a duck, we will treat it like a duck till we know better". Stereotyping I know but it happens!!! Doesn't matter if we want to pretend it doesn't, it does!!! It's common knowledge the police are targeting organised crime which includes 'outlaws motorcycle clubs', not only in Queensland but other States too. And so they should, but personally, I don't need or want the added attention, specially when I am just going for a social ride with my friends, just because 'they think' I might be an outlaw biker, because I look like one!! I don't wear the vests either, Corky :-)

The SRA patch is no threat to anyone.Wont bother me if questioned. Proud to be SRA and tell people what a fabulous social group we are.

All those vids on FB are from known offenders trying to prove a point. As long as we stay away from rockers and 1% patches we'll be ok
