I have only just recently got enough confidence to go on extended rides on my Vt750c. I usually only go back and forth to work, about 20 minutes. Lately though I enjoy going From Penrith to Wisemans Ferry and back. or From Penrith to the Zigzag Railway and back. Both rides about 3 hour round trip with a coffey break in the middle. I want to extend these rides but how do I overcome the sore bum. I have a gel seat but this has only improved the pain minutely. Any one got any suggestions. Exersizes mabe.

Shhh. Secret here. I wear cycling shorts under my jeans in place of undies. Works a treat. Still a bit sore, but not achingly.

Mate over a long time now conjecture of which is the best fix have been tried and tested. Some as myself have got an upholster to try to fix the problem. Some say Air hawk seats are the go, or simply a sheepskin cover. Others as myself yes I ended getting a Mustang seat to try. . Must say it is a touch better than my upholstered seat though I have to get it fine tuned some more. . Then as you put it at the end of your question, fitness. I really do believe that this is true. Having correct posture brings together a good core strength in your body which I believe does indeed help you untoldly. Of course there are more seats out there to look at. Saddle men is another. So in the end it, s up to your end to find the best that suits. Maybe try a sheepskin cover first. Going 2-3hrs isn't a bad effort to day the least. Have to stop and fuel for a break anyhow. Hope this helps Cheers Ray

I got my wife an air hawke, she says it improved her comfort. A good indicator was when we did the Penrith 1dayer Black Dog Ride.
I took her on the route a few weeks earlier. We had 5 to 6 stops along the way. At the end she was sore and tired. Without her knowing I ordered her an Air hawke. This was installed for the actual ride.
The actual ride was only 2 stops and after the day of riding she said she was still a little stiff, but nowhere near what she felt the 1st time round. To me the air hawke worked, and it can be easily adjusted by a simple puff of air.
Although it did not take all the stiffness away, remember nothing does. I get uncomfortable after long sessions in my favorite reclining arm chair at home, Even when I have a bottle of 18yr old Irish Whiskey along for the ride.
Just my 2 cents on the matter.
Oh BTW, let me know if you want company, I am only at Parramatta and love those roads you talk of. There are others about that like them too.

Hi Guys, In think we have this seat problem and sore bums, I am going to buy the new gel seat saddle man with the wider back seat for the misses and the removable back rest for me that will surely help with the posture. I am going for a ride this weekend to a bike and hotrod show one of the guys said there is a seat guy there that does a great job on your seat so I will speak to him first. One tip I can give is that I have found when I start to get a sore bum I kick the feet out and rest them on the front floor boards like having a set of highway pegs I only have to do this for a couple of ks and it just relives all the tailbone pressure. and I can ride for as long as I want before I need juice.

I solved the shadow sore bum dilemma by fitting an aftermarket seat, corbin or mustang not the cheapest option but a good one, sheepskin cover works well also.

I've had a Air Hawk 2 for a few year's now, & can't speak high enough of it, It stop's the jarring & sudden bump's from hurting & I can ride for much longer, If you want one try the Air Hawk guy At Wyalla SA, You can get them direct from him as he's the Importer of them
