I bought my Shadow brand new and from day one I had trouble making corners safely. I have just had new Bridgestone tyres fitted front and rear and inflated to 36psi & 38psi. I moved the rear suspension up one knotch from standard. I can't believe the difference in handling, It feels and handles like another bike altogether. It is now a real pleasure to ride in fact I went for a ride on Saturday and didn't come home until the sun went down. Can't wait for the weekend to arrive so that I can hit the road again... not literately though.

Progressive springs are the go to mate if you want a even better ride. Cheaper alternative for front forks if they are still diving around in corners is to put a heavier grade oil in the tubes. Makes a fair difference. I put my rear shocks on 4 the other day and that certainly made Cornering better. Is getting a bit hard though in normal riding..

I quoted the Bridgestones in the last week, and they range from $390 front and rear + freight + fitting, to $370 fitted from Motoadelaide (Honda dealer) which is the same price as the Dunlops. Recon I'll give them a try
I have always run 36 in it and have the suspension set on 4 as often Brenda comes with me
Never had a problem with cornering though

I think changing the front fork oil might be a good idea as the front is very soft. Is there somewhere I can get the specifications of the oil and where to buy it? How big a job is it to change the oil, is there anything on the net to explain?

I think the bike shops jack up the front of the bike to take the load off the tubes, then undo the top caps carful of the inturnel spring tension, lift out springs suck out the old oil and replace it with the same amount of heavier grade oil.You can ask what is the normal grade and the best replacement. You could use a large shringe and clear plastic hose make sure the hose does not fall off, measure the oil you take out of each one for replacement.Cheers Allan

i did a motorcycle maintenance course this year and the tutor adjusted my rear springs to to the hardest setting said the lightest settings are only for people lighter than 60 kg made heeps of difference to my ride no more bottoming out and it feels heaps more steady when cornering my kidneys and spine could not be happier

well thats what i thought to but bottoming out all the time was much much worse might add i'm not a 60 kilo guy more in to the 90's and if you've ever driven on sa roads you know how much they suck. the lecturer just put it on the hardest settings and set give it a go for a while see how it feels if its good leave it if not adjust it down a notch, never changed it cos it felt good it's all about experiment i guess what might be good for some might not be for others but my kidneys and spine don't cop the beating they used to and thats got to be good ?

Find 5 is a tad to hard so have gone back to 4 . Used to always leave it on 3 solo and 5 pillion. But i think 4 is good ,especially for cornering. Tad over 100 ,okay a little bit than a tad maybe .

Getting a new 130/70 18 fitted on the front tomorrow, lost all faith in the night dragon, just don't feel safe in a corner anymore. Probably less than 75% used. $206 Fitted & Balance was the cheapest price I could find, it's a Shinko to match the rear. hope it's as good as the rear one.

Have heard a few favourable reports on the Shinko . May look at them iff i get to wear any more tread of the 66,s. Night dragons arent made for teh 750,s unless you go to a lot smaller size. Would upset the odometer a bit me thinks .
