Hi all, I've been eyeing off this forum for a long time, finally got my opens and upgraded from my VL250 Intruder to a 2003 VT750 shadow in pearl white the other day. Absolutely stoked with the bike, it's everything I'd hoped for, got plenty of pull of on the highway, and it's like sitting on the couch :-) I've been digging through the web trying to work out EXACTLY what model it is, because I want to buy the proper workshop manual and some new bags etc but I'm super confused. Anywhere in particular I can post a question to get to the bottom of it? Cheers all, Woysy links to a pic here: photos.app.goo.gl/vkgdxyixR5M8EjNP9photos.app.goo.gl/i3CmKx6kNV3uUm1EA

Thanks heaps Spinal, I've been spinning my wheels for the last couple of days trying to figure it out, I like the paper manual so I wanted to make sure I had the right thing. The VIN plate only says C2 so I was struggling to find whether it was ACE, Spirit etc.
Can I ask what marks it out as an ACE exactly?

c2 stands for the spirit model, but they have a narrower 21 inch front wheel with small mud guard, also the rear fender rails are small, Ace model have big curved rear fender rails, big front guard and an oval air filter, they did bring out a 2003 spirit model called vt759c2 but i think they were only sold in the USA. you can see the difference to your pic. 2003 was the last year of the Ace model then came the Aero model [ 2004] shaft drive, tear drop air fitler and the rear fender rails are straight. 2003 vt750c2 spirit. cheers, spinal.

Gotcha, thanks @spinal! It was the C2 on the VIN plate that kept throwing me off, as mine obviously has the bigger curved rails at the back etc Thanks for the help man, I'm not particularly mechanically minded so really keen to have a decent paper workshop manual so I can at least walk around the bike and identify stuff and perform basic checks etc etc

Hey spinal, sorry to keep banging on about this but I've been digging around for workshop manuals and a lot of the links seem to be dead, and the one that I did find that was supposedly for the right year of Shadow ACE (2003) shows the speedo mounted on the handlebars, whereas my speedo sits on the tank. Im also struggling to get a hit when I look for a paper workshop manual to buy so I'm wondering, is there a close second that will do the trick? Im not likely to get into any real nitty gritty mechanics but would just like to make sure I've got a good reference point for the big stuff if I need it. Would a similar year Aero, Spirit etc do the job do you think? Thanks in advance Woysy
