It's great to see organised club rides and I know the time and effort it takes to plan these. Depending on the weather I often go on an impromptu ride (usually by myself) up the Dandenongs, or Yarra Valley or Christmas Hills or along the coast etc on a Saturday or Sunday morning or afternoon and this got me thinking. As I am new to the club from now on when I decide to go on one of these impromptu rides I am going to post this the day before and see if anyone else is interested. I will try and suggest a meeting place and depending responses to the post, I will wait at the meeting place for 15 mins or so to see if anyone else shows up and if they do, great we can ride together go have a coffee etc. If no-one else turns up, well I'll go on my merry way alone. I thought that if anyone else went on a ride on a whim they could post their idea too and if anyone else wants to join in then that would be great. This way we could meet more often, no great logistical planning required and we could have a fun few hours of riding have a coffee and enjoy some good company.

Just sorry that I live in Queensland and can't join you. We travelled around those places in Jan when we drove down to Melbourne on holidays and I thought then that they would be fun to visit on a bike. I think your idea on impromptu rides is excellent as you have a better idea on the weather, and as you say, it lets people know who are free, to join in. I've done a similar thing myself on another forum and it can turn out to be an excellent day.

Hope to join you on one of these soon! Sadly I'll be working tomorrow, so hopefully not to far in the distant future...

Good one George. Looking forward to catching up for a chat. I would also like to look in more detail the areas you suggested on the feb ride thread. I am looking forward to planing a number of rides for over the next few months, Heading a a variety of directions to give as much variation as possible and give people the best chance of attending. I would like to hear as many suggestions as possible from people and I will look at trying to get us group discounts and such.

This is a picture of my bike. It's a 1999 Aero 1100 CC. Came with whitewall tyres, floor boards, etc. The design is supposed to be a 1960's style. It has low wide handlebars. Attachments:

I happen to have some free time tomorrow (Tuesday) so I am going for a ride to Phillip Island.
I will be leaving from North Croydon at about 9.30 am, might stop for morning tea at the infamous pick up spot in Tooradin, ;D ;D ;D ;D ride around Phillip Island, have lunch in Cowes and then ride home again.
If anyone else happens to have a day off and would like to join me let me know. Weather is looking good at a sunny 20c.
