I recently purchased chrome side covers for my bike from USA. They arrived on Friday and I put them on my bike on Saturday morning. On Sunday I headed off to Epping to meet up with Moucey and Shane to travel together to Port Melb. for our meet and greet ride. I rode from North Croydon, to Warrandyte, through the hills to Eltham onto the northern ring road to Cooper Street Epping to meet with Shane and Moucey. When I arrived, shock, horror and fu@%k one of my side covers had fallen off. I remembered hearing a funny noise when I was on the northern ring road, near Plenty Road, so I quickly went back to see if I could find my brand new, never been seen or photographed bling chrome side cover, but no I couldn't find it. I don't know what I was expecting to find anyway, a squashed/smashed up cover, pieces of it, who knows . Anyway sadly I headed back to Cooper St, and then of we went into Port Melbourne. I told everyone of my woes and got the sympathetic nods etc to ease my sorrow and then away we went for our ride to Greenvale etc. So on the way home I headed back along the Northern Ring Rd and when I got to the end at Greensborough, I thought - one more look. So back I went onto the ring road. It is hard to ride at 80-90 km/h on a freeway while trying to look on both sides of the road, on the road and anywhere else. Anway just before Plenty Road I saw a piece of shimmer in a storm drain opening. I stopped my bike in a safe sport about 60 metres up the road, then walked back, reached into the drain and there it was! My side cover all in one piece, no cracks, no holes, no major gouges. A few scratches ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Nothing a quick trip to an electroplater can't fix for about $30. Woo Hoo! Lesson learnt? Make sure the cover is put back securely ;D Attachments:

That was lucky!
Know that area well, my sister lived in Diamond Creek for a while and now is in Research - lovely hills for riding.

Woe is me. Well I took my scratched chrome side cover to a few electroplaters and sadly because it is PLASTIC, they can't be re chromed. There is a place is NSW that re chromes plastic but it is much cheaper to buy a new set from USA. I currently have one black and one chrome side cover on my bike.
Sadly the story does not end there. I recently purchased some new chrome hand grips. They arrived on Friday and I stuck them on on Saturday in preparation for the Black Dog ride. On Sunday off I went and met with Shane on the Western Highway near Werribee somewhere and off we went on our merry way when bugger me dead if my new friggin chrome hand grip didn't fall off into my hand as I was riding along.
I give up! And yes if you read my post on the Black Dog ride you will have seen that to top that day off I ran out of petrol too!!!!
Anyway if you can't have a laugh at your self life is........ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

George, could have been much worse. Imagine if the grip had fallen off mid corner causing you to lose control.. There is so chrome guys in toowoomba that can re chrome plastic. I'll be there on Thursday and will post the name of the company on here for you. As I can't for the life of me remember their name...
