Hi all Just registered (twice... opps, sorry admin) Just bought a 2010 VT400 for my learners (LAM's) although, I don't actually have my licence yet I'm going for my Pre-Learners in Tassie next Wed/Thurs (via DECA ), then bolting down to Service Tas first thing Friday morning, sitting and I should pass the written test (now computerised), pay my licence fee, get my Lic buy a L plate for the rear and hopefully pick up my bike and ride it home Friday afternoon. Phew.. ;D Thanks to WolfIshGrin and Betty I'm now ordering some Vance & Hines pipes, K&N air filter and 2X o2 sensors for my VT400 from 60 Degrees (From the lovely and helpful Kat)... My bike is excatly the same colour and year so the pipes should be a nice addition. My only dilemma is that I'm on my L's on a LAMs bike so pipe modification albeit subtle may not be approved. I'll do some more research before I actually place my order with 60Degrees

Hi Pete and welcome to the Shadow family. Good luck with your LAM's etc and I hope all goes well with your bike and proposed modifications. The V&H pipes are a great choice and will ad a nice sound to the bike. Look forward to catching up one day for a ride. PS when you post and then read what you have posted and see typo's you can go into modify (on the right side of the post) and fix the typos

Hi Pete !! Gratz on your new purchase, hope you love it as much as I love mine. I also recently bought a VT400 as my very first bike. Good luck on your Pre-Learners day, you'll find the written test a cinch, it's just mainly common sense road rules with a few bike specific stuff thrown in, if you're interested you'll find a Tasmanian Practice test here www.transport.tas.gov.au/drkts (if you've already found this then just ignore me ) The modifications to the pipes I dont think would make enough difference to the bike to make a real diff on your L's, dont quote me on that tho I've been wrong before, but as far legallity goes I think it's more to do with the decibal levels. Seems the advice is to just make sure you hold on to your standard pipes in case you get done for them at any time and have to put the bike over the pits. Now that's a question, if you get done of noisy pipes, do you lose points on your licence, that's the only way I can see you getting done for them and losing ya licence on your L's, ya get bugger all points on your L's. Anyways have fun when you get your baby, and dont be afraid to ask questions in the classroom if you need to, these guys love answering them !! Oh and pics, when ya get pics remember us !! Cheers Anna P.s. It seems your registration to the forum still hasnt worked properly, you are posting as a guest I noticed ... good luck with that too

When I read your post, I called 60 degrees and they couldn't help me. Maybe it was because Im from Sydney haha
Anyways let me know how you go with your order from 60 degrees and if everything is all good, I'll make the same order

Hi all ....Thanks to WolfIshGrin and Betty I'm now ordering some Vance & Hines pipes, K&N air filter and 2X o2 sensors for my VT400 from 60 Degrees (From the lovely and helpful Kat)... My bike is exactly the same colour and year so the pipes should be a nice addition... You're very welcome! Nice to know Betty will have a twin! The pipes won't affect your LAMs rating at all...but they are loud (which I strongly believe does save lives). So regardless of your licence level, they are a smidgeon over the allowable decibels...which is only an issue for a minority of police members, but as previously mentioned, hang onto your old pipes just in case and switch them back temporarily if ever required. PS: If you're ever asked, I never told you that!!!!

Hi all Thanks for the kind words of welcome @ angel Shadow riders are most welcome to our lovely state (albeit pack wet weather gear ). We have some awesome roads (e.g. Targa Tasmania), some mighty fine food and plenty of places to visit. Do we have anyone in Tassie as a go-to person ?? I could not find Tasmania listed in the states listing?? WolfishGrin .. it's cool man, I know what you mean Yay... I passed first half of my pre-learners motorbike test yesterday and 2nd half today so all things going well I'll just need to pass my road rules test and I'll have a learners licence ;D Cheers, all... Pete Pick up my VT400 tomorrow cool...

It's more because of my occupation, and that in my line of work I should be discouraging that sort of thing...
