Today i took part in a rider awareness programme, run by MRA. In view of my previous learning experiences i did not learn anything new in regards to riding. What i did learn ( from the WA traffic officers who were present ) was that lams is on target to be fully functional by december this year. I also did not know that the LAMS system allows RE riders to ride LAMS approved bike without taking the R licence.... I had thought that it just meant they could ride the bike and then have the bike de restricted once the RE was passed so the R licence could be taken without changing bikes. Non approved LAMS bikes over 250 still require an R licence,
Also most northern riders know of the hazard at the north end of old yanchep RD. Main roads are running a trial of a new roadsign to indicate slippery for motorcycles. The MRA will approach them to post one on the 50kph sign pole and monitor the results.

Sounds like something came out of the program then . Little things make differences
