For those of you that dont know our area much we had a great day on Saturday.
Spinal came from Bundaberg which is a 2hr trip the day before and stayed the night with us .
Bad move on his part because we watched the transtasman football match . Now Spinal being a kiwi ,i,m afraid he coped it bad that night . ;D ;D ;D
Woke on saturday morning to beautifull clear skies and we rode the 2 hrs down to the starting point at BP Caboolture .
The gang was starting to essemble and by 8-30 we were ready to ride after a quick talk on the ride . I was fortunate to be given a momento of the cake at the Eastern States meet .
Thanks MRC,Cliff for that honour but i,ll have to share with STEVE & PAM as well as they really got things started more so then me.
Had to get to meet a few new faces on this ride and i appreciate the attendance by these riders & pillion riders.
Also a new member Karen was ther but she was off with the girls on a day out ,hope yo ucan come with us next time Karen
So we were a bit late out of the blocks by this and it seemed to carry on through the day . Dont mind ,people have to talk as well as ride . Pity we cant do more in a day . ;D .
The ride took us from our departure on the Hwy into Caboolture where we turned right on to the Steve Irwin way. This lead us to Lansbourgh at the bottom of the Stanley Ranges . Turned left and went up the range to Maleny . It is situated on top of the Stanley ,Blackall Ranges and some say gods country .
On this ride it all that and more . The views out to sea and inland are spectacular. . We stopped for what was over 1/2 an hr instead of a smoko break ,but as i said we have to talk . ;D
Some of our new members on the day ,nice blokes i must say .
Head west then down the other side of the range ,lovely twisties and noticed my TEC ,Dave not behind us . So we sstopped at Conondale and waited for him and his lovely wife Pamela to catch up .She was following us in the car for the day as her neck was to sore to ride .
Turns out they had an altercation with a cement truck . Dave was let go but the moron chopped Pam off in the car .Go figure .
So onto our proper stop for morning tea at the Bellbird Tea House out side of Kenilworth . Lovely biker cove back in off the road . Met up with our new member Karen there on her revamped RS 750 . They put on a good spread there ,but could be a bit quicker . Time again had slipped but hey we have to talk ;D Mmmm think i said that before . ;D ;D
NOW HERE IS SOME SUS LOOKING BIKERS ;D ;D ;D
Pushed onto Kenilworth and over the ranges there ,lovely twisties again ,down into the Mary Valley road . This lead us to the Tuchekoi road and back onto the old Bruce Hwy . Turning right then for an enjoyable ride over another twisty mountain side of Pomona into Coran. Lovely littl place ,were ment to stop for Ant here but she couldnt make so we pressed on to the Pinbarren road leading down to Borren Point . Seeing as we were now about an hr late ,but hey we have to talk ;D i decided to take a left on to Cootharabe Rd . This takes you up and onto a lovely scenic ride . We could see the Point and as far out to sea even . Well i suppose we only 10 ks of it anyhow
.
10 minutes later we made our destination of the Appolonian Diner . THis is a restored waterhole from Gympie that was replaced to the Point in the early 80,s . They do a lovely spread of meals and a wedding was getting set up for later in they day . We partook a good meal here and mingle with the locals . Lou and Neil were very happy hosts and i think ,well know we shall be back .
Neil overlooking the pig on the spit for the wedding . They do this every sunday the roast pig on a spit for travellers and locals
These little fellas were bike mad all dinner so i made their day .
So after some good times here every one then made their way home for what i think was a top day .
It was a top turnout for a ride on a top day . I appreciate the attendance by one and all and hope we can do again soon .
Great bunch of lad and gals to call my friends .
Cheers Ray
