I would prefer the ramp. Not keep subjecting tyres and rims to a curb. After all, the bike is my baby and you got to treat it nice.

Nice pics. If you customise right and move to a 750, a lot can be moved over to it. That's my plan.

Welcome Trebs , good to know you , you'll probably end up doing some mods on her anyway and don't worry you'll get use to the weight. Just remember that if you plan on getting a 750 aero all the parts for that model also fit the 400 so you wouldn't be wasting your money and can just transfer them when you upgrade .... Food for thought .... Enjoy the group they're a great bunch of guys and gals and will help you figure anything out

Hi Trebs, welcome don't know about your parking question as in QLD we can't park on the footpath except for a couple of designated bike parking areas in Brisbane. I love my 400 to but am champing at the bit till I get the chance to go a bit bigger. Cheers Azza

Hi guys, new member and new to riding. Just bought my first bike a vt400 and pretty happy with it. still getting used to the weight, especially when i zoom to the front of the lights and stop. i seem to be a bit unbalanced then. but if i do a gradual stop i can stop pretty smoothly. i suppose i shouldn't be getting ahead of myself too early and just take it easy one thing i never recall learning at my l's or p's was parking. especially parking on the footpath. do you guys find a little ramp and ride up or can you just take it slowly and mount the curb? thanks Hello and welcome to the group. Sounds like you know what to do by taking it easy. Dont rush things just clock up some klm the more the better you will be. As for parking on the footpath I always look for a ramp or driveway, even if I have to ride up the footpath for a short distance which is not legal so dont ride when the coppers are about. Also be careful if you are going to ride over the kerb to get back onto the road try and do it straight not on an angle as its easy to loose your balance. Look forward to catching up one day.

Welcome Trebs .. nice pics, ta for sharing Yeah I get wobbly at times when I'm stopping too, specially if you've just come into a town after riding for an hour or two at highway speeds .. ya just take a bit to get your slow balance back sometimes. I've only been riding for a couple of years with the Shadow being my first and only bike so I can understand where you are coming from with the weight thing, you do get used to it and it does get easier
