Coming to Oz in March and getting new bike from dealer. Want to buy a windshield here and ship it to friend in Melbourne. Does anyone have a Slipstreamer SS-10 or any other Slipstreamer? Any other suggestions? The Honda one is nearly $400 here and the Slipstreamer is just over a $100. I know it's not as nice but this is only for 2 months so doesn't have to be pretty or long-lasting. If you have a 400 with a windshield please post what kind you have and did you have any fitment problems. Thanks.

Hi mate . Yeah nothing wrong with those . I would suggest however you get one that is of reasonable width . The Tombstone they have looks a tab narrow causing a fair bit of buffeting. A height of 17 - 20 inches would be great around a person of approx. 6ft. No i dont have a 400 but a 750 . However there is no difference between the two. I have a $200 cheapy thats been great for 4yrs or more now. Am going to a better size soon thats mounted on the forks and not the bars . But it has been great . Hope this helps mate.

G'day mate, I have (I don't know as I bought it second hand) what looks to be the same as Ray and it does a great job of keeping the wind off my head and chest I did have to make some minor adjustments to the brackets but it was easy enough Frank

Thanks for the replies guys. Frank it appears yours is very similar to the spitfire SS-06 on the right below. Not the same though because of round mounts on shield. You say you like it, but would you prefer the SS-10 on the top if someone gave it to you, do you think?

The first one is a good width at the bottom . would keep a bit of buffeting from the torso. Whereas the second is a good height . nice cheaper version of screens . Mine is also tinted which helps with the chrome blinding you at times from the headlight in particular.

Yeah, our is more pear shaped the one at the top does look good, would be good to compare them, I think Ray is right about the buffeting on the torso

That one looks bigger than the universal unit I tried. Mine wasn't as wide. I don't remember the brand. I adjusted it up high and down low and both occasions buffeted the heck out of my head I could hardly see! Totally shook the crap out of my helmet, not good for a new rider. Was told to try genuine Honda but of course I'd bought a second hand cheapie at $50 and resold it for the same amount! Would like to have one that didn't do that as its great for reducing wind, rain and bugs! Good luck

OK guys thanks for the ideas. Think I'll go with the top one and use my dremel tool to resize if necessary.

There is a link somewhere in how to do the job of resizing your screen . On Honda Aero 750Shadow site I believe . Its on here but the search May not find it . Will look when I'm on the puter later .

Btw, I may as well add something here. I had the National Cycle screen on my VT400, which is a tad more expensive but a hell of a lot more convenient. I loved it but unfortunately it wont fit on the new bike even with new brackets so it's sitting in my back room waiting to go on a Shadow, it's for sale but might be a bit more than you were hoping to spend, if you are interested send me a pm and I'll let ya know how much. This is it, includes the brackets ... shop.nationalcycle.com/perl/cycle/N21403Oh yeah and the buffeting, I found that the top of my head was getting buffetted when I first put it on, I just kinda twisted the brackets a little and that changed the angle of it a bit and not as bad. You still got a little bit right on the top of my helmet but it wasn't annoying or anything, and now that I'm riding a bike without one .. I realise just how much they help, particularly on long highway rides. Will be the first thing on my list for the new bike, cant live without it now!

I have the Spitfire (second pic) even possibly a slightly smaller version on a 2004 VT750 which for all intents and purposes is basically the same for a 400.. It does a great job - mind you I judged this against a 1,500km wind blown trip straight after purchasing the the bike and not having the windscreen. Once installed, I loved it.
All I can say Kuri77 is, don't let the team down - teaspoon of cement and all of that stuff and you'll make it around the greatest continent in the world no problems at all. Don't forget, you have a great support team behind you.

Not planning on letting the team down although unfortunately we'll only be making a leisurely jaunt around 1/2 of Oz rather than a whirlwind around the whole thing. Would rather go half with my buddy than the whole way alone. Thanks for the last sentence, hope we can meet some of the team members along the way. PS I did have a Spitfire on my 650 Savage and it worked great.
