Thanks Ray. Have you tried the stuff yourself? I've heard some pretty bad reviews of it. Think I will carry a spare tube though and a med to heavy duty one at that. We'll be prepared to change a tube if necessary. Not personally but MOE from WA swears buy it . Ive put it in his tyres twice now everytime he has been this way to buy a new bike . There are a few different ones . Its not the foam one but a green liguid. It balances the tyres as well. My 750 came with Bridgstones . It depends i think what the dealer gets from the factory to what brand are on the bike.

Just got an email from the dealer saying that stock is a Bridgestone exedra so I guess the dunlops must only be on the 750 Frank. I have the 400, I got mine second hand and that's what the dealer said was the go, but I recon that's so he can sell more of them BTW you said you'll be sticking mostly to the limits, they differ from state to state, most states have 100kph as a maximum with 110 in some places. VIC will only allow a couples of Km over that before you are booked. SA has 110KPH maximum ad 100 on smaller country roads, usually and I say usually, you can get away with about 5 to 7KPH over. NT however has 130PKH which reportedly is the top speed of the VT400, although I have had mine a tad over that Other's will tell you what speed limits apply in QLD and NSW, I think it's 100KPH but not positive, they can also tell you how the police react to going over the limit

OK Ray I'll check it out some more thanks, Frank, we usually only do max 5 over here at home. That's a reasonable cushion that lets the others who want to go faster get the tickets but we don't hold any one up. That's only off the freeways of course. Most people are doing 70-80 there. Two-laners here usually have 55 limit so we do 60 or 97kph most of the time. Relaxing, little vibration and very little chance of any police interaction.
My avatar is me on the first-year Shadow I bought in Japan in 1982 when it was called an NV750. Wish I still had that bike. Put 50,000 kms on it there and never had a problem.

Nice Kuri, love that pic! 1982 just doesn't seem that long ago to me, and yet that photo has a vintage look to it

Thanks Annastasia. Pic was taken in front of a Japanese temple soon after I bought it. I was living in Japan and headed down to the Honda showroom late 82 to buy a Honda Magna. When I got to the showroom they had a brand new red NV750 on the stage going round in circles. I immediately changed my mind to wanting that one instead and asked when I could buy one. They said they only had that one red one in stock but I wanted a black one. They said I'd probably have to wait several weeks. Color choice lost and I bought that one right off the stage. I think it was one of the first ones ever sold anywhere, especially to a Westerner. They couldn't believe I'd buy it at first look. Only bike I've ever owned that never saw a dealer service or needed any kind of repair whatsoever. I changed oil myself and bought tires and that was it. Drove it around Japan several times, even took it on the ferry to Okinawa and drove it around there.

On my 2009 VT 400 I changed the tires at the 24,000 km service although they still had enough tread. Just wanted to avoid an extra trip to the shop. They were the original factory tires - never had any issues with them.

Thanks Theo. Gives me all themore reason to abandon original plan and not buy an extra tire ahead of time and ship it to some dealer along the way. Gonna keep an eye on the tread and if it looks like it won't make the trip will order one up en route.
