Our American travelers Chris (Kuri) and Wolf return to Melbourne from Tasmania late on Sunday 5th April. On Monday 6 April they will heading to South Australia via the Great Ocean Road, something that is on their bucket list of MUST DO. They have invited us to join them on the Great Ocean Road ride. We plan to meet at the Bay Street Bakery, 210 Bay Street Pt Melbourne at 9am for a 9.30am departure. Monday is Easter Monday and a public holiday. I am aware many may be away for Easter but I am hoping that as many SRA riders as possible could join the ride. My plan is to have lunch at Apollo Bay and then say good bye to Chris and Wolf and return back to Melbourne via Forest, then make our way back to the Princess Highway and home.

Thanks George for organising a great ride. We dodged a bullet weather wise, though that section from Apollo Bay to Forrest was a bit hairy. Great to meet Chris and Wolf and thanks Nick for greeting me on board this morning. I truly felt for you guys when I turned off at Geelong.......was starting to get pretty cold and dark. Trust all got home safely. Cheers PHIL (Bogga)

Well, hopefully Wolf & Chris made it to Warnambool without getting wet. Two of the nicest guys you could meet and I'm sure if we went to there home state, they would show us the same hospitality. We got some really creative photos and met some friendly people on the way. Great day was had, shame we had to part company. Anyone who can meet up with them on there journey, whether to escort them some of the way or guide them to the sites, would be great. Met up with John(new member) at Forrest. Showed us the way home. G'day John. Lots happened in such a long day, Good company, food and the weather held off. Till next time. (M&G next Sunday)

Yes it was a great day. Firstly Paul, Nick and Joanne, Chris, Wolf and I met in Port Melbourne. First stop was at Geelong where we met up with Phil (Bogga. We then had a great ride through the Great Ocean Road with many stops along the way to take some great action shots. Chris liked some of our signs to help visiting motorists We had a nice lunch at Apollo Bay. And then it was time to wish Chris and Wolf well as they continue their journey to South Australia and then head north. After fare welling the boys, the rest of rode up through the Rain Forrest area where we stopped in the small township of Forest and met one of our newest members John, who lives in Colac. John rode with us toward Geelong, where he then turned off back toward home and the rest of us, also headed home. The weather was great with mostly sunny blue skies and best of all no rain. A truly great day and I hope our Amercian friends enjoyed our Great Ocean Road.

Hi guys, Had a great day with you all yesterday. Nice to meet other Shadow riders. Some good photos too. I remember George saying what's the point of doing the Ocean Road if you don't see the 12 Apostles. Turned out to be prophetic. He said it was just up the road and we soon saw signs advertising the helicopter rides for the 12 A. Still riding, well it must be just up here. Went thru a rain forest, well maybe on the other side. Nope, now I'm thinking I screwed up somehow and missed the turnoff. Starting to get windier and cooler and we decided it wasn't to be since we weren't going back. Then it popped up about 30 kms later and I was really glad because I figured you guys would never let me hear the end of it as to how I came but I didn't see. Holy cow there were a zillion people there and when Wolf saw the distance he told me to go on and get some pics. Every foreigner in Oz was there I think, only saw a couple of white people the rest were all sorts of Asians. Made me think of home. The walk was worth it though and Wolf kept all the passersby busy. On the way back to the parking lot got a real closeup of an echidna so that was great. From there it slowly started picking up in rain intensity so we gave up on making it to Warrnambool and stayed at a wi-fi free place near Petersborough. They didnt have wifi but they had good food so we were happy. Got to park our bikes out of the rain too. Started off with the rain suits today which did the trick since it never did rain but was windy and cold. Decided to stay in Mt Gambier tonite since we spent some time reconnecting after Wolf broke the cardinal rule and turned off the main road because i had mentioned Pt Fairy. I had told him if we ever left the main road or there was a T, I would wait there for him. Guess he rode around Pt Fairy for a while and finally remembered I had given him my Oz mobile # so he had some lady at a restaurant call me and as luck would have it I was waiting in a gas station at Yumbuk and got the call when I was off the bike. I was just asking them about how to contact the police. Anyway the afternoon has finished off perfectly, sun is out and Wolf is happy - anyone want to guess why? Yep, he's at the desk doing postcards, over 20 as I type this. Going to Adelaide tomorrow and then the next day hit Kangaroo Island. Thanks again to everyone for making the Ocean Road such a great ride. Hope we do something similar when we get back in May and/or meet up for the AGM.

Oops almost forgot that we saw a herd of emus so crossed another one off the list. Saw a koala road sign but no koalas. Did see some beautiful gray parrots? with a big red patch on them. Anyone know what they were?
