Rusty recently asked me how I came up with the nickname Annastasia, and after telling him he thought it would be interesting to find out what the story is behind other peoples nicknames online. So I thought I'd steal your thunder Rusty (hope ya dont mind ) and start this thread to find out. I'll kick it off ... The name Annastasia was first used by me as a character name for an online game I used to play, I met my husband on that game and he knew me as Anna before we even met. The reason I chose that name was because I had nursed a wonderful old nun in the nursing home I worked in, just after she died I started playing that game and I thought it would be a nice way to remember her by naming my hero online after her, she was a wonderful person. Now it's over to all of you ... how did you get your nickname?

Interesting story, can I ask what game?
Sed, I was thinking of a nickname for myself other than my name Tim. I have a tendency of foot in mouth disease, as I have often said things without thinking. So I ended up with a variation of said - Sed.. And for those here that know me, the choice of word is a great fit...

So I have been hacking away on computers since I got my hands on a commodore 64 circa 1985. When I bought my first modem in the early 90's I needed an online name. For a while I toyed with different names. Around 1995 I missed my regular bus and when I got on the next one the only vacant seat was covered in discarded TAB tickets. Someone had been betting on the greys. Anyhow, this one name caught my eye - 'King Havoc'. I liked the name but gave it my own interpretation, making it one word and exchanging the c for a k. Thus KingHavok was born. If you're ever in a pub and catch a greyhound racing under the havoc name, put a couple of bucks on it to place. Occasionally I see what I assume are descendents of King Havoc racing and they always place and pay alright.

Sed, the game was World of Warcraft .. (It almost feels like I'm saying 'Hi, I'm Anna and I'm a WoW player' ) Tho I dont play anymore, I've been dry for bout 5 months, almost the same time as I got my shadow ;D Love your story Sed, it just makes sense Spinal it's spooky how wheneva I see your name I've always wanted to add the Tap to the end of it, seems I was right .. that could be useful in nightclubs eh ... KH that's a great story, and you've stuck with that name for a long time eh, I wonder if the grey's would come in for anyone else or if it's just your little goodluck symbol, who know's if I get the chance one day I might try it ;D

I've been called Nobby since my first year as an apprentice, it's a pommy thing, back in the 16th century (that's not when I did my apprenticeship) people were named after their occupation, ,clerks or clarks were called nobby due to the nobs/calluses on the fingers caused by so much writing.
Only a couple of my mates called me Nobby but when I joined the RAAF it became common practice, now even my wife calls me Nobby. Actually Trish calls me a lot of things but Nobby is probably the politest one

Angel, I like that, its deep
I had a feeling Nobby would have a history behind it.
How about the rest of you?...Steve .. now there has to be a story behind that ... Like his mummy and daddy loved each other very much....

Grasshopper, unfortunately its like it is a whole different world when you play wow. The only way you will stop them is to either cancel your internet or sell your computer.. They kind of have to stop themselves, I played it for almost 4 years every night.. It is a game that never ends, and at $15 a month can get very expensive too..

Like Sed said (hahahaha) .. they have to give it up themselves, eventually everyone I've known who plays gets bored with it, it really is terribly repetative after a while. I actually had a feeling you would be some kind of a greenkeeper, I think cray's talk of golf is actually rubbing off on me .. I likes your name tho grasshopper
