We went for a ride ... well of course we went for a ride what else are weekends for .. not housework or shopping or stuff like that ... weekends were made for riding weren't they?
Well I kinda mentioned on here a couple months ago that I was wanting to organise a ride to support and raise awareness of the need for giving blood. Kinda like your Red Ride for Life that ya's had up north a while ago (yeah I stole the idea
So I went to the public relations and promotional type person at work, who is known to her freinds as Helen and asked her if we could do some type of ride ... ooh she got excited. We had no idea what we were doing so we went to one of our regular donors who often goes on rides and asked him if he could help us out .. and help us out he could. He suggested we join in on a ride that was happening to support Can Assist (cancer support group) at one of the little villages out of town a ways and got the woman organising that to contact us. Well the short story is that yesterday we went on our very first annual Big Red Ride Dubbo.
We didnt promote it hugely because we were a bit unsure of exactly what was going on and didnt want to step on the toes of the Can Assist guys. But even so we got a pretty good turn out of 8 bikes from our donors who joined in on a ride that had bout 20 or so bikes ... dont quote me on that i didnt count them.
Was a great day but I'll let the pics tell the rest of the story ...
First of all I had to decorate the bike, t'was supposed to be a dress up thingy with a halloween theme but I really didnt want to dress up ..
Terry wouldnt dress up either, and wouldnt let me decorate the shadow .. spoil sport ...
Meeting at 8am at a Dubbo service station with some of the riders .. was looking like I was the only one with a costumed bike ... ;D
