Oh well,I've wasted $400+ on a mustang seat,I'm obviously the wrong shape, fitted it yesterday ,went for about 150k's,was unhappy but my son told me to stick with it,so I went out again today, about the same distance, and I'm sore as if it was 500 or 600,rubbed the base of my spine raw,so it's back to the sheepskin. After about 85,000 on the last 2 bikes don't know why I thought it would be better.

Let us know how you go,I can't take the chance ,as when we go it will have to be rideable for 7000+kms,wouldn't be so bad if I was solo, could stop if it was too painful, but I know the'roadkill' works ;D

Hey Moe All I can tell you is that when I went to Lancelin with you it was so much better with the new seat, Did you fit the sheepskin to it? If it doesn't work for you I'm sure you'll be able to sell it and get your money back as they seem really popular.

Moe I brought a Saddlemen seat, at first it was like a rock but the more i used it the better it became. Then after putting peg extentions on it was even better as the Saddlemen seat puts you bum lower. Is it better than stock ? only just if at all, but it looks a hell of a lot better. Would I buy another aftermarket seat ? Nope. I would spend less on getting the stock seat redone, I think that would be a better option,

On reading the All Aero Forum in the USA, a lot of people absolutely swear by the Mustang Seat, but it doesn't suit everyone. Everyone has their likes and dislikes for seats as we're all built differently. After doing a lot of research on seats, I eventually had my original reshaped by a guy in Brisbane who seems to specialise in modifying seats and am very pleased with the result. He wants to see "how you sit" on the bike and shapes it accordingly and gets you back in a couple of days to see how it worked out.
It was done a couple of years ago, and he also made the pillion seat a bit wider and reshaped the pillion backrest with a slight curve. All for $350 so I thought that was a good deal
At first, i thought the seat was a bit hard, but the more I rode, it seemed to settle down and now I have no more "Burning pain in the butt" like I used to get with the stock seat even after just a 1/2 hour. I rode from Brisbane down and back to Melbourne last year and had no issues with the seat (or the bike for that matter!) and that was riding 400 to 480 k's a day
