When Shadow Riders Australia first began people were invited to register for free. A large number of numbered badges were ordered at a cost of many hundreds of dollars. It was hoped that when people registered on SRA they would also purchase a badge, which would then make them a member. That way the registration number and membership/badge number would be the same. Unfortunately this has not occurred. Many people registered on SRA, were given a registration number but have not purchased a badge to become a member.
Currently we have exceeded 330 registrations to SRA. However we have run out of badges in the 300’s numbers. We do, however, have a large number of badges which had not been purchased upon registration over the years. The badges in stock are worth many hundreds of dollars and it is not cost effective to purchase new badges whilst we have so many still on hand.
To overcome this dilemma it has been decided that registration to SRA would continue to remain free, however to qualify as a member a badge must be purchased and the badge number will be the membership number. This number may be different to the registration number.
The registrations will continue numerically and will always be on the current National Register, regardless of whether people leave SRA for whatever reasons. Until we deplete the current stock of badges, those wishing to join as members may receive a badge number which will be different to their registration numbers.
For those who have registered over the years but have not purchased a badge, this will be your last opportunity to purchase a badge matched to your registration number, BUT only if still available. Please feel free to contact me to see whether the badge number to match your registration number is still available. However whether it is still available or not I encourage you to support SRA and purchase a badge to become a member.
