Will start with stand down normally. It's in neutral Hi ben i would check your kick down cut off switch it should not start weather you have it in neutral or with the clutch in otherwise it defeats the purpose of having it as a safety switch.may be different on 2001 model but wouldn't think so,someone with a vt400 on here may know more, i just tried my vt750 with stand down bike in neutral and with clutch in and no way it will start. hope this helps some what. cheers, spinal Spinal it should start with the stand down and in neutral. If you pull the clutch in while the stand is down and moto

Done! It's all on and charging as I type. Found out I didn't have many tools so bunnings made a killing from me (plus its 1 min down the road). But it's done. I'm pretty impressed I managed to get it going as I'm not very hands on with this sorta stuff but at almost 28 I must be growing up a little thanks for all your advice and help. I will hopefully be posting that the bike is running very soon! Attachments:

Hi Ben. I had heaps of battery trouble on my VT1100, then I bought a trickle charger and I leave it connected to my battery permanently with the plug just dangling under the cover. The night before any ride I hook it up, and next day it is fully charged. You can actually leave it plugged into your battery all the time, and it does not cause any damage or problems to the bike. The trickle charger was a godsend. You can buy them from any motor cycle accessories shop, autobarn and supercheap auto. They range anywhere between $30 - $50 but a bit cheaper on ebay.
