I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that has put a spike air cleaner on a 2001 750 spirit . I have bought one and just waiting for the jet kit to turn up so I can do the whole job a once. But I was wondering if there was any modifications I will have to make. I don't want to have my bike off the road longer than needed .

Sounds like you have it well in hand mate . A dyno at the end would probably give you the best performance from the mods you are doing . Everything would be in tune .Not that much into the tune thing but sounds like your on a winner . Lets know the outcome of said mods Cheers Ray .

Fuel air mixture and rejetting is all that's needed but getting a dyno tune and a power commander will improve the performance of the mod

Yeah right If it's carby it won't need the power commander

She is running very lean didn't have enough time to put new jets in this weekend but dosent matter having to much fun modifying it to rush . I still want to chop 6-8 inches of the exhaust and make another seat one without spings just to drop the ride hight down a bit more.

No! sorry I will have it set up so i can change the seat buy removing two allen key screws so I have the best of both worlds but when i pull it a part i am more than happy to send you the template and/or photos so you can have a go. I am still learning. Bikes are only ours when we make them so!

thats cool but remember that i cut the back of my frame off so what suits my bike may not be the way you want to go because once you cut the back you have to get mod plates and you can't go back to a twin seat later so make shore because there are a few ways to put a spring seat on without any cutting Attachments:

Just a quick update on the air cleaner. I made a sock up for the filter using two layers of t-shirt material to restrict the air a little until I can get the jets done and it's running nice now. I also chopped 6 inches off the exhaust and shortend the baffles and put the indicators on my hand grips so its really comming along well considering this is my first project bike.
