Any tips on hosing/not hosing your bike down? Any spots to not hose or watch for?

For what its worth. I have had my shadow 1100 for 15 years and I have NEVER hosed it down. I polish everything with Mr Sheen. And it looks brand new. (Well i think so anyway)

Hosing down the bike to get rid of dirt is important to avoid buildup and though you man not see it when you don't , your mechanic sure will and charge more for it as they will wash your bike (and hose it down) an up the servicing charge , also it can help keep stuff out of places that can become future mechanical problems , good practice , hose down , wash with automotive liquid soap and a sponge , hose again , shamy and then polish , the results will be better than just polishing , don't set the hose for long periods of time on the electrics , particularly the speedo and ignition

I wash mine when it dirty otherwise it's just a wipe down and always polish polish and did I mention polish Always good to take the bike for a quick spin after washing to get rid of all the water from the nooks & cranny's.

I'm getting the pressure washer out tomorrow for the cars hence the question. Only problem might be I will spend the day cleaning the bike and forget the cars

Main item not to linger to longer with the pressure washer is the bearings on your wheels as you can push water and dirt into the bearings thus giving you a sh$%ty ride and more work. just a quick flick will do. I wash/chamois mine whenever I get caught out in the rain to get the road crud off, for the sake of 5 mins work your bike will look all purty next time.

I wash mine with a spitwater pressure washer,Foam Gun and Truck wash. Standing back a good meter or so. Rince with clean water with pressure washer on low pressure and a fan spray. Than Chamois all over. Been doing it for two years and had no problems.
