G'day all, thinking about spending $'s on my 1995 vt1100c2 ace(46,000km,s) to get it how i'd like -braided brake lines, forward controls, new rear brake rotor, rear wheel(chrome not real good on mine),rear shocks and changing the paint. Of course I don't expect to get my money back but that's ok I usually modify things to suit my needs. Could be looking at $4000 but when I lift the garage door and get that good feeling that it's exactly what I like to ride to me it's worth it. Just thought i'd put it out there to see if i'm on the right track or i'm missing something. All opinions welcome and I don't have a thin skin but I do have a budget. Cheers Dave

Cheers Dave G'Day Dave, It's all about what you want and if your going to keep her cost is not the major factor as you have plenty of time to do what you want. Do a Google picture search on your model to get some ideas. I don't think there would be many standard cruisers on the road.

Hi Dave Like Shane said, tis about you .. if it's your pride and joy then spending money and time on her is what makes her special .. nope you'll never recoup all that but then who cares really .. I've been doing things to my 400 and there's probably a lot of people out there who think sheesh why do up a 400 .. but it's my love so I couldn't care less how much or how hard it is to get the things I want. I say go for it .. and love it

Go for it Dave. When that door rises, and there she sits waiting to treat you a ride. No amount of money can replace that feeling of achievement and satisfaction. Enjoy the journey. Cheers

Go for it Dave, If u got it, spend it. No car, bike or computer is ever going to pay u back the $'s u spend but pride is in the beholding of a great machine..... especially one u created. We all have a need to make our ride our own. Beerfrog

Cheers Dave G,day big fella, just remember on thing "its your money ralph". depending on where you get your bits from a lot of bits are inter-changeable in the shadow range and could save you some coin, I saved a fair bit on mine by making a few items myself, as for your rear wheel someone put a post on here about re-rimming your back wheel with a vtx rim allowing the fitment of a 180-200 back tyre. Go for it mate and post photos as well.

Thanxs for the replies it's really appreciated.Took the missus for a ride to Kingaroy this morning for breaky at maccas(don't do the great aussie breaky any more...bastards) and then to local Harley dealer, spent ages talking to sales guy and sitting on different bikes and thought maybe spend a couple of bucks on mine vs $27,000 for a bike that looks great but not as comfortable as mine. Harleys=$$$$$$, my opinion shadows are a great bike and probably worth spending the money. Cheers all and thanks again.

Plus the costs involved in Harleys, My bike mechanic made it clear to me he said that the money I've spent getting my bike to look the way it does I'd have to spend plus more to keep a Harley on the road

I would never spend cash on my bike. Now that you believe that, I have a really nice Bridge to sell you. One owner only, and used solely by a little old lady on Sundays to attend church in North Sydney.

Have just been studying up on single pin vs two pin crank that gives the HD its iconic sound. Perhaps an item for discussion after 10.30pm at the AGM (YES, I'm bored and just waiting for Bright)
