Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I'm really stumped. Got home earlier than planned, so I thought I'd use the time to install the saddlebags I bought on eBay last week. Removed the last two (of three) bolts out of the side rail on each side of the fender. Sorted out the saddlebags ( you need to set up and measure on the holes etc to get the mounting hardware attached evenly to each bag) and then not sure I like them. I put the bags aside, and think I'll just think on them a while. So, I go to replace the original Honda chrome bolts back where they belong, and I can't get them to screw in! Thinking the rail must have moved or something, I giggle it around and try and move it up and down. Nada. No matter what I try, the bolts won't screw back in on the fender. What could I have done that caused this? The rail hasn't moved - although it is further away from the fender than I remember, but even up pushing it in doesn't get the bolts to screw in. I don't want to be too forceful with it, in case I bend something. Worse case scenario is I take it back to the dealer and ask one of the mechanics to look at it, but I'd feel like a dill. The rails shouldn't fall off, as one bolt is still in and there's no weight on them except for the indicators really. Anyone got any great ideas? (oh, and I'm over buying cheap crap on eBay for my bike!

Ok, after sitting and thinking about it, could the third bolt still done up tight be causing the problem? I'll try loosening that and see if it helps. Once the rain stops.

Done the same meself mate the guard has no bolts innit so its dropped you,ll have to lift/realign the guard, get a bolt in, easiest first but don't tighten it then repeat the process until all three are in. As a point thread the bolts in by hand to prevent cross threading because that will be another world of hurt you no want oh and one more thing take your time no rush.

Also helps if you hold your tongue on your left rear molar whilst facing north

Yep, backing the first nut off and lifting the fender helped. All bolts back in their spots - except one. Can't get it to go in no matter what I try. I think I must have stripped the thread inside somehow. The bolt itself looks fine. Another job for the boys at the first service I reckon.

Think there is a spacer in there, thats why its best to do one at a time.If you didnt hear it fall out it might just be pushed to one side, not sure if this is what you talking about but had this shown to me when putting on the mounting bracket.

I had a similar problem when I fitted a sissybar, as the bike that already had saddlebags. I made the mistake of undoing both sides and had trouble lining up the holes again and getting the bolts to go in. What I found was that you need to get the bolts and the threads in the mudguard at exactly the same angle by having another person twist the mudguard. If they are at a slightly different angle the bolts will not screw in. Good luck
