A couple of years ago when I was looking to overnight at a Motel in Scone, there was nothing available due to some local race meeting so I tried the local Pub and got their last room. Like you said, it was quite a surprise cost wise, I think $30.00 plus secure parking of the bike in the lockup drive through, overnight. It's something I must try more often, as I just go to a Motel more out of habit as the Pubs are not as well known but after reading the article, I'll definitely give them a go.
