Just thought I would share a little trip I did over the past 3 days. Pam disappeared to Melbourne on Monday for 3 days, so I thought Ok, here's my chance to do a little exploring. After taking her to the Airport on Monday i headed back to home to get the bike out. I got away at 11:00 am and thought I would go to Texas (Just on the Queensland, NSW border) decided to go through Warwick and then onto Stanthorpe, where I stopped for a coffee and put the wet weather gear on as by this stage It had just started to rain pretty heavily. From there I headed west towards Texas. The road is sealed but numerous signs warning about kangaroos and I did see a few just off the side of the road a few times. The last 20 k or so into Texas is very twisty and being wet and late afternoon I took it easy. I stayed at the Stockmans Hotel in Texas as it had been featured in a couple of Motorbike Magazines as a good place to stay, and in fact the whole town is promoted as "Motorbike friendly" . On tuesday I did a days loop around the area to check it out, and then Wednesday headed back for home going via Inglewood, Leyburn, Toowoomba, Esk, Sommerset Dam and then Kilcoy to home. All told I did 938 K over the three days, so it was a good ride. Welcome to Texas Lunch time stop at Cunningham Weir Historic old Bridge, very rough to ride over and big bolt heads make it interesting All in all, It was a great three days away exploring roads I had never been on before. Some stretches you could ride for 30 klm and not see another car on the road. David.
