Yeah taking the rear guard off isn't that hard. Undo the bolts and let it drop onto the tire .. gently! Makes it easier if you have someone there to hold things while you work. If you are taking it right off then you'll have to undo the wiring too. Sorry I've never had mine off completely so don't know what's under the guard itself. The frame just goes along under your fender rails. Oh yeah, seat off first .. of course you knew that .. just thought I'd add it tho cause the first time I did it I didn't know that

Ha ha thanks. I'm being a slack arse and want to know with out actually going to all that effort. I'm thinking,( if it would work) dropping the rear fender a inch or two. But can be arse pulling it all apart to just look and put it's all back together

easiest way to lower the rear guard an inch or two is to fit shorter shocks, but you will sacrifice cornering speed for looks.

yeah easiest way is to lower the shocks. but remember if you do that then you are likely to start scrubbing out on bigger bumps. also the guard already goes very low at the back if the bike so you need to be aware when backing into a curb so you dont scrape on a gutter.

Hi moretimecruising, I have had mine off I don't think there will be enough room between the guard and tyre for and inch or so without taking the chance of rubbing, also you will have to make new holes in the guard for mounting.

That's a point, you wouldn't be able to move just the guard down, they aren't just holes in the guard they have threads built into those holes, reckon if you drilled holes and tried to fasten it with nuts you'd have a cracked guard before too long.

Nut inserts would work for that but reckon a lower kit would be better. But hey your bike. Do things and have a go to suit you.
