unfortunately I can't make it as we'll be in Wagga but don't be shy, most of the GHOST riders are friendly and have had they shots, blow is a copy of the newsletter with details, if you go lease introduce yourself to SPOOK, don't worry, he's almost normal
G’day from the sunny Fleurieu,
‘Tis springtime and the good riding weather is with us again.
Saturday 18th October is the date for our next ride. It was decided to run a Saturday ride to make life a
bit easier for some who have informed us that they are often unable to attend on a Sunday. With this
in mind we would appreciate YOUR feedback on whether you personally prefer Saturdays or Sundays
as your better riding day. Your input is valued so please get back to us by email to
ghostriders@adam.com.au.
Next Saturday’s ride will culminate at Sails Café at Clayton Bay for lunch. Our circuitous route will as
always take anything but the shortest and consequently we will leave Strathalbyn by way of the
Macclesfield Road after leaving our usual point at Strathalbyn Railway Station Car Park at the usual
time of 9.30 (ish). After cruising up the Maccy Road we head for Mount Barker but NOT by the road
you would expect to take. Yep, we’re heading into banjo country for a bit but it’s all sealed road and
no fears of Deliverance happenings along the way.
From Mt Barker we head to Nairne the back way (don’t ask) and thence down the Old Princes
Highway through Kanmantoo to Monarto South. We will be picking up some of our riders at Monarto
South and will be using the Monarto War Memorial Hall as a meeting place. Darty and his bride Kaz,
possibly among others, will meet us there as they have a prior appointment in Murray Bridge on the
day.
When we have picked up the stragglers and regrouped we’ll take a journey through Ferries McDonald
Conservation park to pop out on the Wellington – Langhorne Creek Road near Mosquito Creek. From
there we’ll travel through to Milang and Clayton Bay.
A pleasant route back toward the hills would be to Finniss and Tooperang and then through
Ashbourne to points possibly closer to your home address, or for a longer ride across to Victor Harbor
and back into the hills. Democracy rules here.
The weather next Saturday promises to be fine and sunny (28 degrees) at this stage and we look
forward to seeing you there. Ride distance to lunch from Strathalbyn is about 125kms.
If you intend to partake of lunch at Clayton Bay and are NOT departing Strathalbyn with the group
PLEASE let us know so that we are able to give the staff at Sails Café accurate numbers for table
reservations. The ladies have undertaken to seat us outside on the sundeck overlooking the lake if
conditions are as forecast. There is however shade in which to loll about.
Catch you on the day if you can make it.
