Hi Guys I'm Paul
Im dropping you all ma line as I'm just about to purchase a VT400 here in NZ. Currently I'm struggling to find parts for the bike and am concerned that if it breaks down I won't be able to fix it. I wondered if you guys could point me in the direct of some good places for replacement parts both bling and real engine parts (Pistons etc)
Also It would be great if you guys can give me some feedback on the VT400 I've been a dirt bike rider for years but new to the road. Im hoping this will be a good place for me to start, I'm very keen on turning it into a bobber. What common things go wrong etc.
Thanks
Paul

KIAORA vt400 good bike to start with, as for things that go wrong,as reliable as ya guna get run all day, as for parts all parts of a vt750 aero model fit the vt400 except pistons etc, diff size motor.OEM parts you can google, most are in the USA, ENGINE wise, as for aftermarket parts ebay best place to start just search for vt750c4 aero 2004 and up everything fits, seat, handle bar grips ,pipes, foot pegs etc. here is 1 link but there are many, pays to search around some have parts cheap but costly postage. www.hondapartshouse.com/hope this helps, any probs just post ya Question if i don't get back to ya someone will help ya out. cheers, spinal.

Funny .Fair enough I laugh when I see him ,so yeah I suppose . Ok serious now ,maybe ,what yearcmofel is yours mate . Some of earlier models like 1999to 2002 we're what they called grey imports and where different frames to the later Aero models which Spinal is talking about .They were the Ace model I believe . Curved rear rails opposed to the straight gaurd rails on Aero . Cheers Ray . Oh yeah cryora

This model is from the year 2000 so I guess it is a Jap import one.

Casper used to ride an ace model 400 before he got his Vulcan. As did Benimino if I recall right.
In any event, if yours has the curved rear fender rails, just modify your search for bling. Instead of 750 Aero, its 750 ACE (btw stands for American Classic Edition).
Also note there is a 3rd version of the Shadow, the spirit. Has a thinner front wheel, and lighter looking fenders as an indicator.

Below is a pic of the bike. Sorry its so small not sure why that is. Its a 2000 model so I'm guessing its the map import. Its got a aftermarket exhaust bringing the 2 into 1.

Interesting ,Definately not the Aero madel . Bit hard to tell from pic but going by the seat it could be an old spirit model though the rest indicates Ace . 2 into 1 systems were standard in earlier models . What does the I D plate say on the frame.Should be on right side or maybe left on the front

Yeah. You may be right but I'm sure there will be partsabout .Hope I'm not confusing you here but I'd be looking to see if you could get a later model ,shaft driven . There are a few about on gumtree ,ebay etc. How much are you paying for this . If its around 5g I'd Definately be looking for a later model . Looks nice though .Still thinking its a spirit shape . Is the front tyre a skinny one or fat I can't make it out properly. Surely the dealer can tell you the exact model .
