Hi all from Pete in Tassie
Well, it's been a long while between drinks (and 2 yachts lol)... yes, on my second boat a Farrier Trimaran and loving the sailing.
Now as some may remember, my fantastic VT400 was my first ever bike and what a fantastic bike she was (and I'm sure still is). She looked after me (as opposed to that stupid Jack Daniels seat - put down as my worse purchase lol). There are few memories that really stick in ones mind as front and centre. In no particular order because they all hold the same absolute value are My first class as a fully qualified and registered teacher, undertaking 4 years of Uni studies at 40yo, the birth of my son, my first sports car...and my first bike, that gorgeous looking and sounding VT400. She really looked after me and was a fantastic start to my enjoyment of motorbikes. Plus, the fantastic people of the SRA
It has been a while....and I've learnt something interesting about motorcycles.... YOU CANNOT KEEP AWAY from them (excuse the yelling :-)
Yes, my pining for a bike got the better of me and I've purchased another..... Sadly she's not a Honda but a BMW 1200LT - Luxury Tourer. I pick her up late next week and cannot wait.... There are few (aka NONE) BMW bike rider/owners groups in Tassie and Ulysses seems to have the Tassie riders stitched up (in the nicest possible way) so it looks like I'm off to Ulysses...
I'll always be happy to ride with you all when ever I can and importantly you let me and now that I'm on a bike albeit it took me 2-3 years to discover the error of my ways it would be great to ride with the SRA and Tasmanians. Um, does the SRA constitution allow other brands to ride along?? a lot may have changed since I was a member.
Ulysses is having their 2016 AGM in Tas this year so I'll have a look, talk to some organisers, get in touch with the New SRA Tassie coordinator and maybe (NOTE the MAYBE) him and I could get an AGM up and running in Tassie?
After all.... Tasmania was voted BEST motorcycle roads in the world no less!
MCN's senior test rider Michael Neeves has rated Tasmanian roads as the best in the world
Well, lovely fantastic people.... I've missed your fantastic comradery and of course being on a bike.... I'll not be on the forum a lot but will touch base every now and then
Peter
Oh, better put some photos up of my BMW but I'll not take offence if you print them off, stick then on the local pub's dart board and take pot shots
I have to admit.... 40 litres of hard saddle bag space, 6 stack CD with iPod/android connectivity, heated rider & pillion seats, heated grips, ABS brakes, electrically adjustable front wind shield & side wind buffers, super comfortable seats and..... reverse gear got me hooked
Cheers all, Pete
