Hi guys n gals Can anyone recommend a good tyre for 1997 Yamaha xv1100? Rear tyre needs replacing urgently. Currently has Metzeler front & rear. Only just purchased the bike so have no idea if they're any good or not. Have read mixed reviews. I think the original tyres for this model were bridgestones. I know its not a shadow but would be interested to hear what other members use. Many thanks Lushy

Don't think you could do to wrong with the Metzelers but Avon would be worth a shot. Am thinking of them on my next change if i can get the right size. Had them years ago on my first road bike ,500/4 ,excellent tyre then and i believe still are.
Cheers Ray

Just to add confusion to the mix, Steve from the Sunshine Coast that had the older green shadow that came on the Nambour run, said he'd just put a Pirelli Night Dragon on, can't remember if it was front or rear, but he was so impressed, he was going to get one on the other end when it was due!
Seen them advertised in the cycle mags, like to have a look at one in the flesh so to speak.

Congratulations on the new bike! No problem in sticking with the Metzlers they are a good tyre and very popular, can be a bit pricey though. I have one on the rear of my shadow but unfortunatley they don't make one to suit the front wheel Enjoy the new ride & I'm sure our Qld members will still welcome you along on their rides. Probably just make you stay up the back & sit in the naughty corner ;D

Cool. Cheers for the advice. Might stick with Metzler this time round if no one here has any horror stories about them & see how it goes. Congratulations on the new bike! Enjoy the new ride & I'm sure our Qld members will still welcome you along on their rides.
